Oilers lose again LUL

snowball 01-05-2022 10:11 PM

I can't believe we're 8-1-1 in our last 10 and we're still at the bottom of the Pacific...

Yep... it was no joke when it was mentioned Canucks needed to win like 70% of remaining games just to slip into the Wild Card spot.

Teriyaki 01-05-2022 11:16 PM

So you're saying... there's a chance...

Since they're never going to lose again in regulation, I think it's pretty much guaranteed

Liquid_o2 01-06-2022 09:53 AM

If the Canucks are fighting for a wild card spot near the end of the season, I think everyone would be happy after the way the season started. I don't think the players could have dealt with another shit season.

fsy82 01-06-2022 10:04 AM

The group has belief and confidence and you can tell on the ice they are fighting for one another. If they continue this way and make it into the playoffs that would be amazing

pastarocket 01-06-2022 01:56 PM

-looks like a second round of Covid for the team.

First, Petey tested positive yesterday.

Chiasson has Covid too as announced today.

murd0c 01-06-2022 03:59 PM

Chiasson testing positive is a good thing. Petey is also getting a second test done since they think its a false positive.

I thought once you get it, you develop stronger immunity against it ..

Against Omicron, past infection gives you at best 20% protection. Double vax around the same, triple vax 80%

whitev70r 01-07-2022 09:08 AM

Hmmm ... for financial reasons?

Canucks-Senators game likely to be postponed due to capacity limits.

teggy604 01-07-2022 10:06 AM

They have postponed every single home game since last yr. Its starting to become a trend. Have a feeling their ticket sales will go down. Its too unpredictable at this point.

MG1 01-07-2022 11:52 AM

game got canceled

Bouncing Bettys 01-07-2022 01:45 PM

I heard on the Steve Dangle Podcast that the Leafs lose $3 million every home game without fans. Postponing until a later date makes sense, but they will quickly get into that situation where regular season games are being played during the playoffs or the playoffs end in the middle of the summer again.

6thGear. 01-07-2022 02:28 PM

Don't the players also lose money if there's no fan attendance?
Pretty sure I read it somewhere

Correct. Players escrow comes from ticket sales at the games.
The NHL players are supposedly $1.2B as in Billion in debt from the games with no fans and other things.

Another factor is games that are supposed to be on TV. HNIC, NBC, ESPN etc.

But I agree, from hockey point of view, they should just play because later in the year we are going to see 3 games in 4 nights situations to make up missed games.
That or they just shorten the season if that is an option.

Hondaracer 01-07-2022 02:46 PM

Also people are just generally losing interest.. I was kinda pumped to finally watch a game again

Players probably also losing steam

Liquid_o2 01-07-2022 02:54 PM

Nobody is getting ahead in this situation. Players and owners losing money, fans losing interest, frustrated players, TV stations not getting views. Meanwhile, it looks like the arenas are full in the States?

d1gbick 01-07-2022 03:24 PM

so lets say Petey doesnt get back to himself this year and this funk continues on for all of next year. Do you look at trading him so we can resign all the others including Miller or do you hope he pulls a MacKinnon. It was only his 5th year in the league where he really took off

The amount of games where we see the elite level of petey. It’s not worth it to give up on him so quickly unless it’s a really good return.

Much rather trade Pearson to use his cap space for Miller.

whitev70r 01-08-2022 01:08 PM

Nice !!

Razor Ramon HG 01-08-2022 08:12 PM

Wow, Hagelin scored on his own empty net during a delayed penalty passing it back when the Caps were up 2-0 and they just lost 2-3 in the shootout.

spoon.ek9 01-09-2022 06:42 AM
