JB's main issues were spending frivolously, handcuffing the team over and over again, as well as achieving next to nothing in 8 years under his watch. That's more than enough for any GM to lose his job.

6thGear. 12-12-2021 09:01 PM

If JB fired Green and hired BB and this was game #4 of the season would we still be calling for #firebenning?

SkinnyPupp 12-12-2021 09:06 PM

I wonder how much of this is due to all previous scouting teams do on the Canucks is basically void

teggy604 12-12-2021 09:39 PM

Do players have no liaison person between them and management? If they didn't want to play under Green anymore is there something they can do? Instead of playing like shit and pissing the fans off, which in turns call out management to do something. Same thing happen when Gillis got fired.

68style 12-12-2021 09:56 PM

Well the Canes were playing their 4th game in 6 nights… with no Aho… and their backup goalie in (who is admittedly quite good) so it wasn’t exactly Carolina’s A1 game I think… but hey… we’ll take it!

6thGear. 12-12-2021 10:03 PM

If the Canucks couldn't beat a tired Aho-less Carolina team then they would've deserved the loss...BUT...the Canucks did only beat them by 1 goal. 1 thing I would criticize on is no one going after Slavin after he pummeled Podkolzin near the end.

Rutherford has a list 40 candidates for GM: :considered:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...gm-candidates/

Rutherford, 72, said his list of potential candidates is divided into two categories. One includes former GMs no longer with their teams, and another with assistant GMs whom he could mentor and work with in Vancouver -- something he said he really enjoys doing. He said he may start making calls as early as Monday night to begin the process.

A more immediate decision, revealed Rutherford, centred around the role of assistant general manager -- a position that could be filled this week.

Hope he sticks to his word about not trading 1st round picks. Now lets see if he'll bring a cup here in 3 years time

Clearly coaching was the big issue. Were watching a totally different team now. The fore checking is amazing, the penalty kill is not an issue as they pressure the puck everywhere on the ice and keep it short shifts and all the forwards i believe got over 10 mins last game.

Yup, the game is coached differently when there is a lame duck coach behind the bench trying to win to keep their job/impress enough to get another job vs someone coming in knowing they have a few years of job security.

Pod playing in the last 2 mins of a game with a 1 goal lead. Greene would have had his but stapled to the bench by the middle of the third.

Take a look at the Rutherford interview from yesterday if you get a chance.
He goes quite in depth about how the AQ's were working on a deal with him in advance and that they asked him if he was good with BB as the head coach.

It sounded like JB and Greene should have been fired a while ago but the timing wasn't right.

Rumor is someone on the Nucks might have covid.

This was from Rick Dhaliwal

Luke Schenn and Juho Lammiko test positive. FeelsBadMan

Defenceman Luke Schenn and forward Juho Lammikko have been placed into the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol, according to the Vancouver Canucks.

They were tested over the weekend and the team was notified of the positive result this morning.

Results from today’s tests are expected to be received prior to tonight’s game, which is still on at this time.

Hondaracer 12-14-2021 10:11 AM

Coulda been worse. Wonder If OEL back tonight

Expresso 12-14-2021 10:24 AM

Writing was on the wall when it was reported that some of Carolina players tested positive and the Canucks just played them the day before.

6thGear. 12-14-2021 10:55 AM

Marchand was placed on Covid list as well. So basically teams that played in Calgary then here and vice versa has been affected

pastarocket 12-14-2021 11:18 AM

The Daily Shit is reporting this about the team now:

The Canucks cancelled practice this morning as a precaution, ahead of tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Rogers Arena. Schenn’s positive test came back on Monday, with the team learning of Lammikko’s test result this morning.

Players, coaches, and staff have been tested again this morning, and the Canucks expect to receive the results before tonight’s game. If more players test positive, there’s a possibility that the game could be postponed, which is what happened in Calgary yesterday.

I suspect the NHL may postpone tonights game. After what the Nux dealt with last year its better to take it easy
