Looks like my next jersey is gonna be a Demko black skate jersey.

teggy604 12-20-2021 01:41 PM

Let's just change the logo going forward and stop bringing back past logos. We didn't win a cup with the skate and we didn't win a cup with the orca. Next.

Hondaracer 12-20-2021 01:43 PM

I think you’ve just gotta stick with the current blue and white orca and have that large band stick and rink as the 3rd

Can bring back the black for 3-4 games maybe but just stick with this current gen going forward please

68style 12-20-2021 07:27 PM

I'm actually really surprised the whale didn't die

The whole "Orca Bay Entertainment" was a John McCaw creation and representative of that era, I was super surprised when FA took over the team and didn't start fresh.

SkinnyPupp 12-21-2021 03:06 AM

Get rid of the whale, IMO

I don't know if they have the guts to try something new.. Everyone wants the sled, or the rink, or Johnny Canuck. Why not do something totally new?

What does a good 2020's era sports logo look like?

Kraken? Golden Knights? I admit I really like the Kraken jerseys. That red trim is sharp af

I was looking at a CFL scoreboard and it looked like it was from the 1930's except for some teams were from the 80's and 90's. LUL

Aqualini is not that bad ... but tweeting this is like, 'look at me, I'm so generous' ... but that's OK, for the good that he did, let him boast a bit.

Teriyaki 12-21-2021 08:21 AM

Might as well get a tax-write off and some positive PR if it was destined for the dump anyways. Not criticizing but just saying its a win-win business move.

Hondaracer 12-21-2021 08:27 AM

It’s better just to not do it at all than post about it these days with people..

When Peterson donated that 50k or whatever half the comments were just shitting on him. You’re better off not doing anything at all as a pro athlete because even when it’s fine quietly and eventually comes out you still get shit on

whitev70r 12-21-2021 08:38 AM

No, no ... do the charitable thing but don't tweet about it.

mb_ 12-21-2021 08:46 AM

Damned if you do, damned if you don't

At the end of the day call it a PR stunt or whatever but they're the ones donating 1M meals, donating $50k to charity and not us so to me, I don't give a shit if they tweet about it or not. The real story is that there's less fortunate people who were able to get assistance.

pastarocket 12-21-2021 10:23 AM

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not remember any negative comments from the local press for the Sedins when they made this big donation to BC Children's Hospital. 1.5 million.

https://www.nhl.com/canucks/news/dan...pital/c-520773

I don't see any pro athletes these days donating that much money to a hospital, let alone a children's hospital.

Some people might say "Oh, that's chump change. They can afford that. The Sedins just want a tax write off."

I think that comments from some of the haters are the cheapskates and miserly people who would not even donate 5 bucks to the Red Cross for worthy causes such as flood relief for some BC residents. Cheap fucks. LUL

At the end of the day, how pro athletes spend their money is not anyone's business but their own. If they want to make social media posts to mention their donation, whatever. Some keyboard warriors will choose to make comments because they have nothing better to do with their lives.

68style 12-21-2021 10:27 AM

1.5 is a massive donation for anyone to give

Some people talked trash cuz Petey was sucking and cuz $50k to him is like $60 to most of us… but whatever it’s still $50k to the charity and he didn’t have to do it

RiceIntegraRS 12-21-2021 10:34 AM

^people werent complaining about dumb shit back then like they do now. The Sedins wanted to remain anonymous but the hospital wanted to make people aware of what they did in hopes they can get more contributions for people in need. Nowadays u just cant please anyone.

teggy604 12-21-2021 10:40 AM

Meh. Its great ppl donate. Ryan Reynolds donated to the Abby flood relief. He also did tweet/post about it. I dont care. Average joes donate money and time everyday. Its just not covered as often in the news because they are not a celebrity. North shore search and rescue is all volunteers. There are volunteer firefighters, volunteer in the soup kitchens etc..There are ppl that do good in the world.

whitev70r 12-21-2021 10:42 AM

I like it when rich people promise to match donation 1:1 ... that encourages peasants like me who can only donate like $100 to chip in. I know they were going to donate that huge amount anyhow but they've just doubled the donation to the organization.

SumAznGuy 12-21-2021 01:25 PM

Waiting for the official announcement but sounds like no NHL players going to Olympics and might be no Spangler cup this year.

2 more games cancelled.
There is talk that the tourney might be cancelled.
Supposedly the hotel the players stayed at hosted some wedding parties.

whitev70r 12-29-2021 12:00 PM

Wow ... it's in the air vents then! I thought players entered a bubble after negaitve tests so I thought to myself, how can they contracted it. By a wedding in the same hotel!

TSN reporting that remainder of WJC games are cancelled.
