I don't watch a lot of soccer but their passing is really inaccurate and pretty sloppy. I like the way they attack on the forecheck (or whatever the soccer equivalent of that is) and that's what led to that early goal and a few more chances
Canada has been outplayed just massively this game. Exciting for like 10 minutes then it was just a rout.
We were outplayed no doubt, and the score suggested we were routed as well. But I'd have to disagree that we were massively outplayed in the game. Croatia got back into the groove and never lost its confidence after conceding the early goal. We cracked when they dialed up the pressure after equalizing, and it didn't look pretty for the remainder of the first half. But we regrouped (in the 2nd half) and kept fighting. It's true that Croatia defended well, and our boys were out of gas both mentally / creatively and physically to penetrate the penalty area. We lacked the experience and the strength to penetrate a tough defence. But we were a pest throughout the 2nd half, and we kept Croatia on their toes.
The 4th (Croatia) goal, in particular, didn't mean a heck of a lot at all. It was so late in the game that it really changed nothing for either team.

If Croatia was fucking Canada, at least we bitch slapped them good while we were getting fucked. We cracked under pressure in the latter part of the first half, but we kept fighting and made Croatia worked for the whole 90+6 min of the game.
It wasn't the outcome we had hoped for, but there was nothing to be ashamed of.
The narrative here and in social media (that Canada sucked and should have won) really doesn't do this team justice. But that's expected when the media hyped up the game for bandwagoners.

We aren’t saying they sucked. I’m saying Croatia played substantially better, which a 4-1 outcome in the worlds most low scoring sport would indicate. Croatia just had way more stamina and it showed in the offset in offensive zone pressure.

Canada is participating in practically their first world Cup and it showed. We had spunk and came out fast and strong, not dissimilar to Jesse on his race in his VW. Everything on the line, do or die and it looks decent enough at the beginning. As the game went on though, Croatia being the experienced players took over the game and yelled a "too soon junior" and just ran away with game. At the end of the day, everyone else is now scrambling to understand what happened when this is basically the inevitable outcome.
Next game we come out and get put to death forever.
What happened here? ... Herdman needs to grow up. Canada didn't lose because of what he said, they lost it on the field, but c'mon Herdman ... this is your 1st World Cup, stay humble.
