Elizabeth wasn't the coloniser but she inherited a lot of the benefits and while she didn't renounce all of those benefits she certainly didn't impede progress and generally made progress especially considering that she never truly had any real power - her power was all of gentle influence.

Her life is one that very few of us could have lived or imagined - she was a mechanic during WWII!

I don't hold any positive or negative feelings towards her or the royalty. Even though I'm from HK I was too young to know or feel her influence there. I would say the British gov't made a bigger influence than anything in the time I've been alive. Although I agree colonialism was a dark time in human history, the British laws lay the foundation of order in many places in the world and our way of life right now is shaped by that.
