Why would they move Victoria day?

I was just talking to co workers, what's Victoria Day? Do we get a Elizabeth day now? Charles day? I'm all for holidays cuz we get way less days off than our Asian friends.

Well, we never got Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII, or George VI days (These people all succeeded Queen Victoria), so I don't know why we'd expect to get Queen Elizabeth day?

Queen Victoria was reigning when Canada was confederated, so it kind of makes sense that she's a special case...

Hmm... no school for kids (including public post secondary institutions), and those in the public sector -- both federal and provincial (BC) will observe the day of memorial with a day off work.

I wasn't expecting that from Horgan.

Wow, I'm not complaining that some of us will get the day off, but that really screws up the school schedule at all levels. For example, K-12 have minimum hours of instruction. How will they make up those lost hours?
