Remember how like 2 months ago we were arguing over whether Taylor Swift was hot and now we're down to discussing if Chicken Lady cleans up ok in between posts about sitting to pee? I'll trade this topic for a discussion of Sydney Sweeney's boobs and whether she is a butterface.

Just don't tell us how often you've spanked it to Chicken Lady since we started talking about it.

Stock market requires an average 7% annual return, after costs, to double every 10 years. If you can do 9.5% annually, you'll do 2.5x in 10 years. These are definitely possible numbers.

Real estate needs 4-7% net of costs, unlevered, to achieve 1.5-2.0x in 10 years. Also pretty realistic I believe.

Anyone try Shawn's Chicken? On No.3 Road ...looks decent! Not sure about the owners, servers, or cook though.

Badhobz 12-22-2023 08:57 PM

I’ve been going to Shawn’s since they opened. I would say it’s the best chicken in Richmond right now IF you like spicy chicken. This spice taste a bit like the ma-la spicy from Chinese hotpot or those skewers.

Try it !

Income disparity has never went in the way of my friends

Income disparity will always exist between any two people, and furthermore spending disparity even more so

Sure it may set some friends back on not coming out to events / 4 day getaways, 100$ lunches, but that has nothing to do with making an effort to hang out at Uncle Fatties pizza for 11$ and then going for a drive with the roof down to talk shit

Whoever mentioned you have a friend that owes everyone money, thats not a friend, thats a freeloader that is making 0 effort to pay people back.

On side topic of shit friends, unfortunately ive had two buddies that i useto be super close with. Go to tim hortons twice a week for donuts, do stupid car shit, install exhausts, sit at the pool hot tubs, etc.
But when they got pussy, they would disappear and give bullshit excuses. Both of them, the last time, i did not see for an entire year, and i would always initiate a "yo lets go for a drive, etc" and get the same "i gotta cook my baby dinner" excuse.
Fuck those guys, cut them out of my life. Those arent friends, those are people who use you when they are lonely, and disappear when they get a girlfriend.
Its sad, but my own mental health is better off without them.

Point being, if these money moochers seem like shit friends, let them go, if you think their are being genuine, then pay for their meals for being a great friend regardless of their income/spending/saving situation.

/Rant?

I can't even buy my place right now at the price I got it for, nevermind market.

I have a female friend like that. Every time she gets a new bf, she disappears and doesn't reply. We've been friends every since we were kids, but this is one of the people I was talking about when I said:

It sucks. But if you can't respect me enough to reply, I'm not gonna bother.

It's that expensive now?! I've planned for doing two dinners about 8 people each. I was going to go to Costco tomorrow cause this thread reminded me of something important.

So I attempted to go to Richmond Costco today at 2PM and I didn't know it was winter solstice. It was fucked. It was actual fucking gridlock. No one was willing to give courtesy so people couldnt get out of their parking spots and people couldn't get into the lot. It was like tetris for cars. After about 15 mins, I was like fuck this I'm going to the butchers. Well.. I ended up spending $300 at the butcher's lol. $40/lb for dry-aged rib eye steak from Seafair Meats. I got 7lbs.

Fuuuu, between you and BIC_BAWS, my stomach is growling.

Emailed myself the link to this post just now: going straight here next time I'm in Vancouver.

Does it taste anything like Chef James' night market lamb skewers? I miss the shit out of that.

Badhobz 12-23-2023 06:33 AM

Yes. Yes it does.

Same spices as those skewers but on a crispy piece of fried goodness.

I am finding that Richmond Costco is basically a shxt show every single time I go, so I tend to avoid it as much as possible. And even when I go, I don't ever attempt to park in the parking lot because I know it is just gonna be a shxt show like you described.

I would even go as far as to say that Still Creek is frequently reaching capacity in terms of the number of customers it can serve. The parking lot is almost always full, but at least the manager there is sending staff out to direct some traffic., and most drivers there aren't dicks.

Go to Richmond at 9am on weekends, and get out by 1030, it's actually relatively stress free

Went to Still Creek yesterday around 10am and the car lineup went out onto Willingdon (blocking the HOV lane). I went around the long way and was able to park in the fire lane in the back instead but it was definitely a zoo in there.

Agree with you that Still Creek is reaching capacity though - even mornings or dinner time are getting pretty packed nowadays.

Call me a peasant but I enjoy home parties more than going out. It's not even about cost either, you can have actual conversations with your group of friends vs yelling at each other in a restaurant/bar. I find it more meaningful and we connect better when we're at someone's home. Plus, with me being single/no kids my place is always available so I am happy to host.

JDMDreams 12-23-2023 10:21 AM

Maybe my parents rubbed off on me, because this is how they'd hang out with family/friends all while I was growing up. Whatever night either they were the guest, or they were the host. They'd bring a bottle, beer, and just blab away for hours, often solving the world's problems. If that family had kids, they'd drag us along so we could play too.

It was extremely rare that they'd ever make some sort of external activity with other people.

I prefer doing this vs going out any day. Have people over, eat, drink and chill in a comfy environment. No pressure to spend a ton of money.

SSM_DC5 12-23-2023 12:54 PM

As a host, cleaning up pre and post sucks.

If you don't care use as many paper plates etc as possible, does help a lot.

Hondaracer 12-23-2023 02:39 PM

I’m not rich enough to recycle

Badhobz 12-23-2023 04:12 PM

I’m too lazy to recycle. I just throw everything in a black garbage bag and hope they don’t check.

Hondaracer 12-23-2023 07:04 PM

All ends up in the same place anyways.

Too bad for everyone’s kids hehe :troll:

SkinnyPupp 12-23-2023 07:31 PM

If everyone in the world was perfect at recycling, they'd make like a 1% difference compared to industrial pollution.

I think Japan does a decent job with separating combustible garbage though

Badhobz 12-23-2023 07:33 PM

Well my garbage menz never say anything because I guess they it makes no difference . They know damn well my shit is filled full or organics, plastics, glass, cardboard etc etc .

I’ve been throwing shit out like this for years and they never said anything. Hell I threw a microwave in my trash last time and they didn’t even care
