i was just on a short vacation where i ate mostly horribly so i dont feel like it's right for me to post an update anytime soon lol. i think one thing that i'm happy with is that my alcohol consumption has reduced significantly in the past 5 years. now i really only drink a few beers a week at most. it's a rare day that i have more than 2 in a sitting. don't like how it makes me feel the next day and also empty calories.

68style 08-15-2024 09:31 AM

I keep forgetting to ask in this thread next time Mike drops in on it, wondering how he maintains bulk if he only eats once a day that seems crazy.

Hondaracer 08-15-2024 10:31 AM

In regards to drinking I always see all these memes about drinking in your 30’s+ and how bad the hang overs are

I learned a couple years ago the importance of being hydrated lol.. drink a glass or two of water every beer and pound back some more before bed, in the 25 years of drinking I’ve never felt better than in the last few lol

MarkyMark 08-15-2024 10:47 AM

If you're drinking a lot taking one of those Liquid IV powder pouches after seems to help quite a bit as to how well you feel in the morning. I don't get shitfaced very often anymore but the the worst hangovers I have are usually when I don't put some electrolytes and food in me before going to bed.

It's because I've been lifting for 20 years now, at this point I'm just cruising. I lift 5 days a week, alternating each week between heavy and hypertrophy (less weight higher reps for the joints, we're getting old). I'm not trying to get bigger anymore, concentrating more on trying to stay lean, it gets harder each year in your late 30s.

You'd be surprised how much the body can retain its size once you've settled it on.

I'm looking to drop 5-8lbs over the next month or so to get ready for a boy's trip down to Columbia in January, this was my fat ass over the last 2 weekends.

Is Dark going to post a before and after of his weight after his cruise?

I'm genuinely curious how much he packs on.

EvoFire 08-15-2024 01:09 PM

He's gonna come back 220lbs, the way he's planning to eat....

Badhobz 08-15-2024 01:16 PM

Fuck sakes mikey. Dats incredible.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a chinaman who’s that big and has that kind of definition. Just not genetically possible. Either you look like Bruce Lee aka stick thin and then easily ripped or a giant panda bear looking motherfucker like me

This was after the cut from 235 to 205lbs before I tore my pec 3 months ago.

I can add 10-20 more lbs but I've never met another Asian dude over 6'1 that was as big as Mike. Other than one guy but was lifting for 4 years and on the sauce for 2.

Ok I'll bite. I wrote it out in the workout training thread, but the tl;dr version:

Worked out casually for years since my mid 20s but mostly focused on strength less on hypertrophy. At my best i got up to 160lbs at 5'8" but didn't focus on aesthetics.

During COVID until last year I was pretty much in maintenance mode, but as I got older maintenance mode was slowly deteriorating as I approach my late 30s.

With work being much more balanced and flexible with hours, I decided to try to go on a full on intentional (dirty) bulk/cut cylce late last year in time for this summer, starting at ~155lbs, focusing on hypertrophy and size vs strength and a much more intentional program.

I maxed out to 172lbs with water weight by around March this year, April onwards I started on my cut. This is how far I got as of yesterday, at 158.5lbs.

Given this was just maybe 9 months of work, I'm decently satisfied with the results so far being my first attempt at size, especially given I am definitely not eating clean on weekends (rather, Thurs evenings to Sundays) and still have a hard time giving up the alcohol (less beer but still on vodka sodas). I probably would be way more defined if I cut out the booze.

Looking forward to same time next year after applying what I've learned this first time around.

Looks great, especially for late 30s!

My personal rule when going on a cruise is to never use the elevator, lol

Usually there’s too much of a wait anyway.

holy shit how much guac did you eat to gain 5lbs! do you gain weight super easily? it would take months of bad snacking for me to gain 5lbs unless i was literally just stuffing my face with chocolate every night.

hes probably like me. i can drink water and gain 5lbs. lousy fucking slow metabolism

works real well in event of nuclear war though..... :rukidding:

ill outlast all you motherfuckers (unless you come find me and then eat me)

MarkyMark 08-16-2024 08:09 AM

Going up and down 5 pounds is pretty easy, it doesn't mean you just gained all fat. I can put 5 pounds on the scale in one night if I just eat a bunch of carbs all day, most of its water weight and will go away in a day or two if you eat normally after.

I can do the same, maintenance is so much easier once you get there.

Especially after a round of golf or pickleball, you burn 1,200 - 2,500 calories. Perfect time to pop an edible and dome AYCE + pint of ice cream + durian milkshake

Yes.. You got me some dirt? No wonder you fuckers blur your Asian faces :lol

Gerbs, I'm 5'9 btw.

Dark, I wouldn't sweat 3-5 lbs, the body goes up and down that amount quite normally from day to day.

You more want to deduce an overall average during a longer period of time.
