Somehow got a hole in my sidewall and had to swap back to the twists.

Finally managed to pick up a Thule cargo box. Heading out for a road trip next week after my summers semester finals.

Thank you, Canadian Tire!

DA FUCK!? Are you some sort of a Toyota god!?

1) its pristine
2) even the wheels are pristine… not a single scratch on it
3) YOU KEPT IT SUPER OEM…. Like not even a mean ass tint on it.

bcrdukes 08-17-2025 04:49 PM

I hate Toyota. :accepted:

Fun fact: The roof rack is OEM Toyota. :D (But likely made by Thule as it looks EXACTLY the same, but was half the price.)

hello whiteiMhatch

Badhobz 08-17-2025 05:47 PM

I didn’t know the IMs have pearl white paint. Can you imagine a Corolla with pearl paint ?!?!? Toyota nowadays is like; you want pearl paint on your Corolla , you want my left nut too ??

Pretty good turnout today. Immediately following this photo were an interesting couple who came in guns blazing yelling at the group for blocking the boat launch and dropping F bombs with kids around. They were not there when we were setting up and we were already getting ready to move our cars.

As a bunch of us were heading up to Outbound, these guys rolled up, and understandably, half the group stayed behind as it's not everyday you get to see two F40's in the flesh.

On my way back down, a piece of scrap wood became one with my car and broke my front grille.

Wow f40 in the wild!! That’s nuts.

Even more wild your car now picked up a toothpick in its mouth.

I met up with DjStylez for a little hitlerbox meat. After sitting in, driving, and admiring what the old mk7.5 golf is, I should just throw this mk8 in the trash. It’s fallen so far it’s almost beyond redemption.

The mk7.5 is better in every way. Especially with the mods he added to it, it’s super tight, handles like an absolute dream with literally no deadspot in the steering. Ugh it’s so insanely good I got no words to describe it.

Look at how much bigger the mk8 is. It’s like an suv next to the mk7

I purposely looked and yes, I wasn’t imagining things. The old ones had felt seals. That’s why you never hear the body creaking. These mk8 hard rubber seals are utter garbage. Facetroll says his doesn’t creak. He’s a face trolling liar. Any body flex and these hard rubber seals make gay noises.

Yeah handicapped. Cuz it’s retarded.

bcrdukes 08-18-2025 12:08 AM

Wow, is that Byrne Road? :ahwow:

I'm curious if something like Gummipfleg or Honda's Shinetzu grease would help the rubber seals and reduce the creaking noise?

AstulzerRZD 08-18-2025 04:34 AM

Seals are just one part of the story: glass is even more important than seal.
Yes, Mk8 lost the felt but glass got better & it got extra layer in the seal.

IMO this is a better tradeoff:
- noise floor is lower with the thicker glass/seal
- seals are crazy expensive: pretty high reject rate even when made in North America.
- yes, no felt means creaking over bumps

Shinetsu grease is like your bat signal

Badhobz 08-18-2025 05:51 AM

We compared everything, my door felt significantly more tinny and hollow compared to his. They cheaped out everywhere !!!

And I did use that grease. That insanely expensive grease. Mo yong.

AstulzerRZD 08-18-2025 06:42 AM

If the overall noise is lower is it ok to feel cheaper?

MK7.5 was not a quiet car - my R on PS4S was LOUD on shitty Seattle concrete/asphalt.
Mk8 is 3db quieter, that’s half the noise.

Maybe the door feels cheaper but money went into side acoustics glass, underbody panels, etc.

Badhobz 08-18-2025 07:18 AM

since when did you have a mk8? and seattle roads are just friggin terrible, period. 80 decibels or 77 decibels, its still INSANELY loud.

Anyways, its trash. THE END.

If you wanna buy a mk8 or 8.5 go buy a mk7 or 7.5. The new ones are garbage and built like dog shit by unionized pig fuckers in germany. While Juan Miguel knows how to screw together a proper car.

AstulzerRZD 08-18-2025 08:28 AM

The mk8 is kinda shitty feeling but the road noise is noticeably better.
Same buddy with the mk7.5R got mk8 so I test drove.

There are cars that aren’t hella loud on Seattle roads (A4 Prestige, Charger/Challenger, Volvo .. even new Prius is decent).

Better bushing, subframe mounts, underbody sound deadening, stiff body structure etc etc all matters.

bcrdukes 08-18-2025 08:33 AM

Which years were the MK7.5 GTI in production and for sale in Canada?

AstulzerRZD 08-18-2025 08:41 AM

18-21.

Base golf got hella cost cut:
- torquey 1.8T/6AT became shitty 1.4/8AT.
- steering wheel controls gone

JDMDreams 08-18-2025 09:03 AM

I don't think grease would help the seals as the car is brand new. It's mostly for used dry seals

yray 08-18-2025 09:12 AM

just get a Porsche
