I just got a waterrower and have been steadily upping my rowing. my cardio was so shit that at the beginning I had a hard time doing even 5 minutes.

At the 2 week mark I am able to sustain 2km at around 25spm, so it was right around 8 minutes and I was gassed.

I've been doing my research and swapped out to a warmup - on and off - cooldown routine. So I do 2 minutes warm up, 90 seconds on (28-32 spm), 60 seconds slow (22-24spm), repeat until the third on set and I cool off for 90 seconds for a 10 minute workout. That results to roughly 2.5km in 10 minutes.

Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong places, but no one talks about how quickly you see improvements or gains.

I took a pause last because I wasn't feeling well, so I'm picking it back up again this week for week 4 and hoping to be able to do 2 sets. 100% expect when I do a second set of 10 mins, I won't be able to hit even 2km after 10 minutes.

rowing is the best. low impact, but total body. I see a huge difference on the golf course with a much improved core. I haven't willy in such a long time too.

The full body workout the reason I went for a rower. I don't care too much about the low impact bit as research has shown high impact/heavy lifting within reason helps retain bone density so I don't shy away from high impact activities like some people might.

Wife said she'd do the rowing thing, but so far she hasn't even tried. She did mention it might boring so I'm thinking of moving the rower and putting my extra TV in front of it so she can just absentmindedly row away to a TV show.

Are you using the Concept2 or some other rower? I've been loving the waterrower because of how quiet it is. All these other resistance or fan rowers are so damn loud.

I'd only do it if Hobz were involved. We can call it the Perowton. In order to participate you must speak with Asian accent and swear profusely while competing with others.

I got the $1600 Echelon by mistake from Amazon. I ordered the cheapo one without the monitor, but I ended up with the good one. they admitted they advertised the wrong model number beside the picture in their ad, so I got to keep it.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DIq_R...tvYnMwaXVldTBp

and as you can see, I installed a secondary monitor to play YouTube video of rowers, instead of paying Echelon $50 a month for their shitty low rez vids

Now that I'm no longer sick, and I don't have the time to hit the gym on a weekday, started up doing a set of calisthenics and 10 minutes of interval rowing before lunch and worked up a good sweat.

The body strength is definitely and issue right now so I'll be focusing on the calisthenics on weekdays and using the rowing for cardio.

I am definitely feeling my age this year as I don't recover as quickly after a hard gym workout, and not gaining strength and cardio as easily and quickly as a few years ago.

I'm not exactly light for my size, keep in mind I'm a good chunk shorter than you and I'm hovering around 170-175lbs right now depending on how much I ate the meal before and if I had taken a dump

I was down to a 30.5" waist for jeans before, I've ballooned back to a 32 this year.

For me it's less about the pounds, it's more about the body fat % lol. I've been more lax in recent weeks due to crazy work schedule.

I care about the body fat and also bone density.

Heavier people don't have as much concern for bone density as just carrying their weight around is enough to ensure they have good strength, but fat percentage is a problem.

I got kids, I gotta keep up as they get older and faster and heavier.

Less fit people always think you're too skinny or light. I'm also a size 32/33 at 210lbs

I'm inherently lazy, if I don't gas light myself thinking about body images, I'll easily stop giving a shit aka the last 6 months. Feels goooooooooooooooooooooood to be lazy. Luckily most of my friends aren't fat fucks or lazy, so it motivates me to be healthier across all aspects.

Having low body fat % is nice, you're so much faster, jump higher, and feels like endless cardio. Bonus points from getting glazed by guys and girls.

Sorry I'm an old fart, what does this genZ slang mean exactly? I literally took it to mean you're jizzing on someone. That's what glazed means to me.

From Google AI:

"Glazed" is a Gen Z slang term that, according to Urban Dictionary, means to excessively or insincerely praise someone, often to an uncomfortable or cringeworthy degree. This can be seen as an act of "sucking up" to someone to gain favor or for personal satisfaction. The term is used to describe cringeworthy or over-the-top flattery that might seem disingenuous.
