You went up $3650 just for one headlight?!

Gumby 02-22-2026 08:13 PM

Fortunately it was only a minor collision; I was able to turn away from the impact.

Upon closer inspection, it looks like only plastic pieces are cracked/broken. Hopefully the sensor is only dislodged/not broken, and the most expensive piece to replace is the front bumper cover. The light appears to be OK - the ridge you see is part of the housing.

The steelie also got scratched up in the process! :lol

red kryptonite 02-22-2026 08:29 PM

glad youre ok. my guess is $5k

Hey man, these damn lights are expensive these days. And if you factor in all the remove/replacement, hidden damages, programming (factory / dealer only) and all sorts of nonsense, this car may even get written off! :D

roastpuff 02-23-2026 09:05 AM

8K since lights got cracked. And sensors and stuff.

Immediately after the collision, my first thought was “fuck, I hope it’s not a write off…”

How much is Hyundai EV insurance? Is it still $$$ like Tesla cuz EV

pastarocket 02-23-2026 11:54 AM

My guess is $6000.

twitchyzero 02-23-2026 01:45 PM

sentry mode standard on the ioniq?

Gumby 02-23-2026 05:49 PM

I’m currently paying $2126 for 3M liability and 500/500. But I’ve been a roadstar and fault-free for many years.

No sentry mode for Ioniq 5, at least not in North America. I have a front/back aftermarket dashcam installed though, but it’s off when the car is parked.

It will be easy $15K to $20K

dark0821 02-23-2026 07:25 PM

Double post...

Sorry for the single photo lol... but I wasn't at the scene. But all damages are shown on this photo.

My wife parked the Prius at elementary waiting to pick up son, she wasn't even in the car.

Another parent parallel parking his XC90 decided to back up into the Prius.

No sensor or lighting damage at all. Cruise Control, parking radar, lighting all work 100%.

Guess how much for repair.

The connected drive on my totalled X5 updated today. It's in..... the Netherlands. Probably going to Eastern Europe to be rebuilt.

red kryptonite 02-23-2026 10:45 PM

did bmw get rid of the ability to access the car's 360 cam via app/connected drive?
ever since the app updated that bottom disappeared. is it barried somewhere i missed?

itd be cool to SEE where it is vs just its location.

EvoFire 02-23-2026 11:32 PM

I got the 360 cam. I still have access to it and I took a picture. but the cameras are dirty and the front cam is dangling I think and pointed to the ground. It shows a wall of brick in front of the car, the squiggly lay on the ground type of bricks.

It's at a cargo yard, next to it looks like either a black 2GC or i4 that's been in a front end accident. The other side is a red SUV, either a F25 X3 or F15 X5, can't really tell.

EvoFire 02-24-2026 07:19 AM

The X5 is on a trailer, getting ready to move, they aren't wasting time as the car just landed last night. I'm kind of invested to see where it ends up

Gosh... at these insurance rates, I'm sure I'd still be driving my pos econo ICE shxtbox for a very, very long time... FailFish

JDMDreams 02-24-2026 10:23 AM

^^ not really, for me even 17 year old shit JDM beater is still like $1500 a year. I just insured a 23 year old car and it's $1700. I even asked about kei cars and they were still $1500 for 60hp.

Badhobz 02-24-2026 10:48 AM

My lc is only 1900 a year to insure with 300/300/5 million. How come yerrr cars are so expensive ?!

bcrdukes 02-24-2026 10:52 AM

They probably live in some welfare postal code. :troll:

That sounds about right, actually. My 12 yrs old 100hp econobox is ~$1400 a year with liability, collision, and comprehensive coverage -- I don't remember the details off the top of my head. Comparing that against $2100+ for a new EV, $700 is quite a difference, you know?

I think the demographic for LC drives very little per year, and they tend on the older side so they don't do hooligan stuff, so the risk is low for an LC to be involved in an accident vs. say a Honda Civic.

dark0821 02-25-2026 08:54 PM

not even 1 guess for my prius prime?
