The laser/matrix headlights are dumb crazy priced. A5 Matrix LED = 7.5K per unit. BMW Laser headlights would be similarly priced.

Hope you're ok! And that everyone else in the car is ok.

Yes any control arm or tie rod damage = new steering rack

We don’t carry any replacement insurance on the lightnings, hood, fender, cooling is all lightning specific so it’s impossible to be aftermarket

New rack pretty much guarantees a write off then, that adds another 5k lol.

Wife didn't check the far lane of traffic when coming out of a side street, I don't think we can get away with it. She's a little bruised and a little shaken up. She was on her way to pick up the little one after work.

Spent today dealing with car seats and shit. Took our in law's car but still needed to buy a car seat and shift all the seats around between our cars.

SSM_DC5 11-27-2025 10:05 AM

These things just come as a single module. No bulb. LED boards are soldered in. Housing is 100% sealed.

I think this is a pretty common practice nowadays on German vehicles with LED modules, isn't it?

As much as I want to replace the "M2" with something bigger and more modern, the costs of these things are scaring me away.

Pretty common for ALL vehicles with LED headlights these days.

Honda, Toyota, Acura, all the LED headlights are single sealed modules.

^ I'm trying to figure out what's broken in my factory hid, ballast, ignitor or bulb. Intermittent not turning on or turns off randomly

Can't deny how bright the LEDs are though, and the Matrix versions are awesome when unlocked. Like magic!

Gotta swap parts 1 by 1 left to right to find the broken one.

So bright that it's pretty common to get blinded by on coming traffic due to minimal elevation changes. Get blinded by so many tesla's and newer Honda's with the strip of LEDs even if they only have their lo-beams on.

That's poor factory calibration, with companies cheaping out on self-leveling features. Sadly the norm.

Eff-1 11-27-2025 03:38 PM

$10k for a single headlight unit is everything that's wrong with the world today. That's insane.

If you had baby/toddler car seats during the time of incident, you can claims those with ICBC and get a brand new replacement

EDIT: I've gone through an absurd amount ICBC claims for car seats

I started with an Evenflo Symphony Convertible car seat, took a cash claim and bought a Clek Fllo, I was involved in an accident, replaced it with another Clek Fllo, then accident again. Took a cash claim and bought two Diono Radian 3R. Another accident with the wife, claimed the seats and replaced it with another two Diono 3RXT, then someone decided to crash into the rear of my car. Took a cash ICBC claim and bought two Mifold Hifold booster seats (discontinued now in Canada)

All within an 8 year span

EvoFire 11-27-2025 04:59 PM

We've replaced 2 Foonfs and a Britax Clicktight through ICBC. This would be the third Foonf and second Clicktight. My older one is only 6.

red kryptonite 11-27-2025 11:34 PM

non parent here.... so u need to replace a child seat after an accident... hmmm learn something new everyday.

68style 11-27-2025 11:53 PM

Fuck you gotta replace a car seat nowadays if you even look at it the wrong way, shit's ridiculous.

We went from no seatbelts in the backseat at all to "My child will most certainly perish if the plastic is more than 5 years old"

Yep, we've replaced a bunch. If the adjuster is good they'll push you to replace them. Some just brushes it under the rug.

I was thinking of that the other night. What car seats? We rolled around in a Caravan with no headrests. Your neck is snapping off if you get rear ended. :lol

Will let you know about the tires if they want the original wheels back.

Fun Fact: Car seats didn't become mandatory in all 50 states till 1985 and in Canada there is no federal law mandating car seats as it's managed by the provinces. In BC, booster seats didn't become mandatory till 2008 (!!!!). Car seats didn't even exist till the 60s.

Here's a GlobalTV story on the evolution of car seats with quotes from people talking about unsecured 6 month old kids in cars.

The winters should be 275/45R20.

Not sure which set of wheels SSM wants, but I'm somewhat interested in Evo's summer wheels if they become available.

Badhobz 11-28-2025 09:24 AM

SSM's such a guangdong hoarder
