68style is a shark. He already wants to buy it for himself.

Interior is actually in really good shape for 15 yr old car. And exterior panels are half decent.... Was going to run it to the ground and do the least amount of maintenance to it but the dumb bitch changed that.

bcrdukes 08-24-2025 08:23 AM

How many miles on it?

I'm curious whether you would be okay having the car repaired or simply have ICBC write it off?

SSM_DC5 08-24-2025 08:32 AM

Just under 190k kms. 50:50 on wanting it written off. Used car market for SUV has been really tough especially if my budget isn't $20k+. If it's written off, I feel like I'll need to spend more money to find a replacement vehicle and I don't want to spend more at this time.

bcrdukes 08-24-2025 08:40 AM

Oh man, that sucks. I share a similar sentiment. Over a year ago, some lady smoked the Mini when my brother was stopped at a red light. She went crazy and tried to drive off. Luckily some Indian kid who barely spoke English, chased her in his Mustang and managed to stop her from fleeing the scene. The repair estimate was somewhere in the range of $1500 with parts and labour, but upon further inspection, some suspension parts needed to be replaced, including an alignment, ultimately landing somewhere in the $3000 mark.

ICBC chose not to write the car off, but we were secretly hoping they would. With the amount of mileage on the vehicle and the market for an R53 Mini, a write-off would have been the best possible outcome, but here we are.

I must admit that it's impressive this Audi lasted to 190K KM. Did you buy this from the original owner? They usually turn to trash after 100K KM if following the factory maintenance schedule. :p

(Flame suit on.) :D

190,000 kms is gonna be tough, though they didn't write off my old e39 with like 245k kms

:fulloffuck:

Badhobz 08-24-2025 08:55 AM

im almost certain its written off. 190k, audi $$$ parts, and massive depreciation = write off city.

The Mini currently has 335K KM. I think ICBC gives zero shits about mileage now and likely raised the floor on depreciation thanks to COVID-related inflations.

In my mind, the Mini is worth $5. Nobody can even steal is because thieves can't drive manual but ICBC thinks its still worth market value. Umm, yeah, no.

underscore 08-24-2025 09:50 AM

Any vaguely interesting shitbox is $5k+ now. And being thief-proofed with a manual is gonna be a big plus to the insurance company lol.

Badhobz 08-24-2025 11:17 AM

So this girl at the gym drove a 2015 bmw 328i. She got into a frontal similar to this, probably not even as bad because her headlights are still there. Icbc wrote it off. Gave her 14k..

Now she can’t even find a replacement bmw that’s around the same year and vintage without a shit loading accidents.

Went from Ferrari gym girl to BMW gym girl who can't even afford her BMW FeelsBadMan

trollface 08-24-2025 06:28 PM

I could have fixed that for 2k

Badhobz 08-24-2025 06:51 PM

Well ya didn’t. And icbc wouldn’t let her fix it. They gave her a cheque for 14k and told her to fuck off. No airbag deployment, nothing. I don’t get how they deemed this as a write off. That’s why I’m almost certain that q7 is gone.

Funny enough, there was a newsletter I received this morning highlighting the cost of used cars in Canada were most expensive in BC, and the further you drive out East, the cheaper it gets (marginally.)

With the return-to-office mandate, my wife and I were looking for an econobox to boot around in. We've come to discover that in Ontario, a shitbox is really a shitbox, and they are easily over $5K+. Insurance is easily over $2K a year too. #Ontario

Might just have to buy a brand new Panamera GTS. :okay: :troll:

It’s kind of the “scam” or whatever you want to call it with insurance that the payout is never equivalent to the cars value to you, unless you drive some shit box ready to blow up

Wha? I think you need to shop around. Our '17 Highlander is only a little over $1k/year. We're with TD: you might want to try grabbing a quick quote off their online tool.

How come nobody just keeps driving their car when it's like that?

People would never think to fk with you!

Badhobz 08-25-2025 12:08 PM

^if you parked that beat up piece of shit next to any car in richmond, they'll stay like half a stall away from you.

I don't think that's true at all? They base it on a huge database of sale and current classified ads for equivalent vehicles. You're geting market value.

There's always going to be outliers like a super mint older car that most of the examples are shitty and yours is super nice... not much you an do about that. I've had one car totalled when someone hit me head on and they gave me $5k more than I even paid for it

Go look up 2015 BMW 328's, I just did, they're all between $10k to $15k so she got on the higher end of that car's market value actually. SHe's just wanting sympathy from Hobz and maybe a pityfuck hahaha

Come to Calgary, you won't be disappointed.

Private insurance = don't fix your car if you fuck up

it's like someone with battle scars from fights, i don't want none of it!
