So was $10000 a good offer? I thought the first one is always low-ball. And you should have pulled as much as you can from the car before you dropped it. Seems still like a bad deal cuz you had an undrivable car for a month? And you didn't get courtesy since the shop wasn't fixing it, unless you were still driving it around?

Badhobz 11-05-2025 05:01 PM

I knew that thing was written off. It’s sooooo easy to write off German cars

yray 11-06-2025 12:06 PM

LOL 10k?

they offered 5k for my truck

let the suspense begin until I find more time to share details.

So how long from they day of accident until they gave you the final result?

EvoFire 11-26-2025 03:09 PM

Oh shxt... The air bag deployment means it is gonna be pretty expensive.

The more important question is -- how are you doing? and were you the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the collision?

Badhobz 11-26-2025 03:53 PM

Usually if air bag deployed then the car is written off. Frankly if it’s involved in this sort of an accident you probably want it written off as otherwise the resale value is in the toilet

RIP God's Chariot :ahwow:

hope everyone is okay and safe

SSM_DC5 11-26-2025 04:08 PM

Part out? :concentrate: what size are the tires? Lol

$20985 is my guess.

Eff-1 11-26-2025 04:22 PM

Sorry to hear this happened!

Random guesses:

$6k for the side airbag replacement

$8k for the front end damage.

Was there any damage to the left side of the car? Doors, panels etc?

I'm sorry to see that - hope you and your family are okay FeelsBadMan

That looks like a borderline write-off to me:
- those laser lights are like $10k a corner in parts alone
- the front bumper + cameras + sensors are at least another $10k in parts, paint, and labour
- I have no idea what body work would cost, but that kind of damage is too extensive to be cheap...

The very thin silver lining is that the X5 45e's are starting to drop in price on the used market with a few more on the market for you to choose from than last year...

10k for a headlight? No way, unless the x5 has 40hrs to change a headlight

Badhobz 11-26-2025 05:46 PM

^obviously you dont GERMAN do you!? HUH!? youre not a franz lover !!! youre a big ole doughboy fucker.

That's cost of part alone.

https://shop.bmw.ca/p/Bmw_2021_X5-40...117933344.html

That's in USD.

RabidRat 11-26-2025 06:38 PM

Oh shit... sorry to hear Evo, hope you and fam are ok.

That looks like $15k in damage :/.

Side note: did you happen to get a good look at those blue pieces in the headlight? Even possibly touch it? I always wondered what material those are made of.

AstulzerRZD 11-26-2025 07:04 PM

I’d ballpark this at 42k:

Front clip, lighting, cooling: 25k in parts and 5k in labor.
Front bumper and reinforcement, hood, ADAS harnesses, fender liners, and brackets.
PHEV specific stuff like AC, PHEV harness, pyrofuse, cooling, fender, and the headlight probably don't have aftermarket versions.
Add paint and blend for all panels into both doors.

Interior looks like 8k in parts and 2k in labor.
Needs curtain airbag, seat side airbag, new seat covers and foams, pre-tensioners, and trims.

Add like 2k in ADAS, HV safety calibrations, and whatever else.

Are you thinking in CAD or USD?

AstulzerRZD 11-26-2025 07:37 PM

Thinking in CAD - that link u sent for the headlight said 9k CAD.

US insurance are super cheap on labor compared to ICBC & way more used parts - they’d probably quote 20-25k USD and wouldn’t total it.

EvoFire 11-26-2025 07:54 PM

Here's my ballpark.

I don't know if ICBC gets discount on BMW parts, but most of the parts like you said can't get aftermarket.

Parts:
New curtains both sides - 10k
New drivers seat - 5k
New headlight - 9k
Bumper cover - 1k
Inner bumper and support - 1k
New fender - 800

Any other misc bits and bobs if we assume the cooling system is unaffected, we are close to 30k in just parts.

The front wheel looked like it was toed in when I was picking up our junk from the car today, looked like 3-5 degrees toed in. If it was a light thing it'll just be a tie rod. A friend said BMW procedure would be to replace the steering rack lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's gonna be 45-50k all said and done. Bodyshop friend and ICBC estimator I know both said most likely a write off.

Car market value is roughly 70k.

AstulzerRZD 11-26-2025 07:57 PM

Yes any control arm or tie rod damage = new steering rack

We don’t carry any replacement insurance on the lightnings, hood, fender, cooling is all lightning specific so it’s impossible to be aftermarket

Badhobz 11-26-2025 08:04 PM

Write off write off write off. Time for a v6 RX my friend !!!!

noclue 11-26-2025 08:36 PM

JDMDreams 11-26-2025 09:05 PM

Yea what happened hope you are ok, air bag hit is pretty bad. I thought anything with airbag is auto write off.

Time for a xm

yray 11-26-2025 09:44 PM
