vBulletin v3.8.1.1 "should" have its password hashed using MD5 but hackers have become very sophisticated, who knows.

I don't think vBulletin 3.8.x has been unsupported for quite some time now.

yeah, it is but there's almost no forum related activity on there. occasionally people post links to local meets but that's about it.
