Hey Apple users: Has everyone upgraded to iOS26/Tahoe 26? My Macbook is 4 years old and battery life is starting to trail off. iPhone 16 isn't even a year old but don't want to overburden it for no good reason.

Other than call screening I don't think I give a shit about any of the other AI slop features. What's the consensus?

I think the Friday showing I went to is the last one they had scheduled but I'm sure with some feedback they'll put it back on. I was told they're trying to show movies which can really show off their new 4K laser projector (it looked fantastic). I'm going to write in to ask for Chungking Express and Zhang Yimou's Hero to be put on.

I updated to Tahoe and iOS26 when they both became available.

Turned off the dumb liquid glass feature right away. I don't have Apple Intelligence turned on, I think it sucks.

Haven't really noticed any major changes in performance.

One major stand-out for me on iOS 26 is the ability to choose the maximum state that the battery charges to. I tend to keep my phones at least 3-4 years before then handing it off to family. That's definitely going to help with longevity.

The call screening is definitely a big sell. It's only been a couple months since I've been using it, but it's been 100% effective with the spam calling so far.

On MacOS 26, there's nothing I like better about it. If anything, there's been a really annoying bug where pixels get oddly stretched using iCal, and then I have to reboot to make it reset. Just killing and restarting the app doesn't seem to fix it for me. Maybe they patched it though; I haven't seen it in a couple of weeks now.

They seem to have done a security overhaul: permissions seem really locked down. I had to futz around with my printer network permissions (albeit an old one, and a friggin HP at that) because it was refusing to detect using the original setup.

I suppose the latest Messages app seems pretty good.

I don't like to jump to conclusions but this seems pretty scummy.

Sounds like a similar story of a friend (no, really, not me). He bought a cruise from Princess and then someone called and said, they could have a better and bigger suite for the same trip but for less. Put some $$ down, installment payment, and then they will cancel their original booking. Sounded very tempting and for some reason, guy on the phone had all their info so it seemed legit. A couple of weeks later, Princess said that it wasn't them that made the offer. They had 2 cruises booked on the same dates, 2 rooms. Went through so many hours on the phone to straighten it out. Sounded like a nightmare.
