I agree that trading away assets that aren't going to be part of your rebuild for prospects will generally lead to lower win rate (and a higher draft pick) that is not like actually losing on purpose. It's not a stupid argument, it's loser shit for loser teams that will generate a loser culture for a loser fanbase.

Canucks had an awesome culture coming out of the covid era, it just didn't work out. When that happens you have to do a rebuild, which could mean a season with no expectation of making the playoffs. But don't lose on purpose, I'd want nothing to do with that.

No one's seriously expecting players to lose on purpose. No player would agree to lose on purpose. The league would come after the team with disciplinary action. People are simply venting at the situation and expressing how they WANT the team to lose. Because any long term fan has been through this cycle of mediocrity long enough to understand short term loss is necessary right now, for long term gain. That's all.

Winning games now mean nothing because all it does is remind us how the team will finish in middle of the pack again, just to rinse and repeat again next year with nothing to show for.

This team should be selling and rebuilding, if the byproduct is having half an AHL team (playing their hardest) on the ice, then so be it.

4-0 since trade, still undefeated! Pretty impressive streak ... woot!

Players are saying, 'Eff you team tank'!

Canucks…win.

Seventh round shootout win.

Lankinen is quite clutch in shootouts.

45/51 saves for his career in shootouts.

Yes and if that AHL team wins some games, then so be it! Because that's what they're supposed to do!

Yes, that's what we're all on the same page about.

Although with this recent surge of wins, the Canuck thing to do is for owner to now veto anymore trades leading toward a rebuild because this team is an "undefeated contender" now, meaning no half AHL team, meaning no higher percentage of losses (when trying), meaning less likely to draft top 3.

whitev70r 12-21-2025 07:28 AM

I still think you can play well towards trade deadline, then gets some additional draft picks for players that playoff teams want, and then play some of your prospects for the rest of the season. Just don't let them being in 8th or 9th spot at the trade deadline give you cold feet about the direction that this has to go.

SkinnyPupp 12-21-2025 11:16 AM

I'm just wondering, if you guys are watching a Canucks game, are you cheering for the opposing team?

68style 12-21-2025 11:46 AM

I just don’t want them buying at the trade deadline. That’s all I personally am asking for.

Take the 2 firsts and maybe whatever they get for Sherwood and go for it in the next couple years assuming both draft picks have a chance to be roster players.

Hoglander has been nearly invisible since he came back too, that’s unfortunate.

love/hate relationship.

Inherently want them to do well and win, but every win feels futile because it dosen't get us any closer to the cup given the team's situation, especially when I've been a jaded fan for over 30+ years and they have nothing to show for.

Vancouver (tied with Buffalo) is the oldest franchise in the league without a single cup.

At least for me, reg season is boring now. I definitely won't make time to watch all the games. I mostly follow highlights now. But I'm fully locked in during the playoffs... The wins then aren't futile.

whitev70r 12-22-2025 06:14 PM

Canucks in Philly tonight ... but aren't you glad that they pulled this off?

It's back to Team Tank!!

teggy604 12-22-2025 07:26 PM

Quickly trade demko, Sherwood and Garland after that 4 game win streak. Lol

68style 12-22-2025 07:30 PM

Everyone happy now? Got owned by Ricky T’s team and they got more than 18 shots on net or whatever we averaged with him as coach lol

AzNightmare 12-23-2025 12:15 AM

Snap back to reality

Guys, no Canadian team is gonna win the cup. Enjoy the wins when they come.

but sounds like management is on board with the tank

whitev70r 12-24-2025 07:21 AM

It is called a 'hybrid', retool ... straight from the mouth of the GM

teggy604 12-24-2025 12:18 PM

They can call it whatever they want. Its not a rebuild. Its a retool to get the quickest competitive team. They will trade their 1st round if they see a player in their early 20s that fit on this team.

Same old same old. They still dont have that important 1C, game changer. EP40 imo is not the answer. He is a solid 2C at best. If you think Boeser is slow, he is going to be way slower when the team gets younger. Which isn't ideal since he wont be able to keep up in offense and too slow to backcheck on defense.

AzNightmare 12-28-2025 12:48 AM

We are now back on top!
