Seriously do. Literally the only way to hurt Aquaman.
Your time is valuable, I personally wouldn't even bother going to a game if I was offered free tickets.

It's not so much the team is dead last, but just the lack of identity and a hopeless future. Are we rebuilding? Are we trying to be competitive? There's nothing to sell.

This is the lowest i've felt as a fan for 20+ years. This is worse than losing in 2011.

Good job fans. Good job media. Good job management.

spoon.ek9 12-12-2025 05:39 PM

Completely hopeless, I agree.

Those Hughes brothers are not gonna play on the same team.

A bit of a shocker that Minnesota made the trade for Hughes.

Elliotte Freedman’s “sources” about New Jersey and Detroit being front runners to acquire Hughes in a trade are complete BS haha.

Two captains traded in less than five years.

Sad sack Canucks.

Congrats to Hughes. He made the smart move. The writing was on the wall when Tocchet left.

He will be a wild for a yr or two then he will walk to NJ or any team he please.

Why would NJ give all that talent to get Hughes when they can get him when he is UFA.

And some Canuck fans are delulu thinking Hughes would stay for this gongshow. Lol.

Wait another two yrs when Mc Jesus walks away from oilers.

Gumby 12-12-2025 07:08 PM

NJ will get the 3rd Hughes in 2 years without having to give up any assets.

Wait, Rossi is coming back to play from injury??

Hmm. Allvin traded for an injured centre.

If Hughes' contract is this year plus all of next year, why trade him so fast? To jumpstart rebuild? To get the most return?

Probably both. Don’t want the poor guy to suffer here and waste his prime years. Fans would also get pissed if management does nothing.

Also, maybe the upcoming draft is better than next year’s?

One way to look at it is that the longer Canucks wait, the less value he potentially has, as there's no guarantee Hughes will extend a new contract with his new team.

Minnesota basically traded for a 1.5 year rental now, unless they can convince him to re-sign there. If every team is assuming he'll eventually go to NJD after his contract is up, they're basically renting him for even less time if they wait.

bobbinka 12-12-2025 08:55 PM

Team trading for him can get 2 years of playoff push, also get to start extension talks next July, also have a leg up in negotiations being able to offer 8 years.

Media also presenting it as another locker room issue the longer it drags on.

We are watching last years farm team dude

Tim Budong 12-13-2025 05:39 AM

nothing could replace what Quinn Hughes brings to the table. "be glad" they didn't trade him within the division.

The return wont be felt for awhile. Similar to what Jovi was to this franchise. Gotta hope that Buium and Ohgren will turn out to be studs instead of duds

68style 12-13-2025 07:48 AM

I would say Ohgren is already a dud they’re just taking a flyer on him, no points in 18 games this season, his third partial in the NHL for a first round pick? He’s likely toast.

Maybe a change of scenery helps him out, not sure what his deployment was like in Minnesota but the numbers don’t look good.

pastarocket 12-13-2025 09:18 AM

My guess is that Allvin will wait and see how well this current roster of players plays games.

Sherwood is a UFA at the end of the season.

I do not think that the Canucks are finished in terms of trades.

Sherwood could be traded before the end of this dreadful season.

Now we know why they hired Foote ... for the tank. The proverbial 'sacrificial lamb'.

teggy604 12-13-2025 10:12 AM

Sources say Hughes camp told management in summer of 2024 that highly unlikely he will extend. Then this summer it was pretty clear he wasn't going to extend.

JR and PA did what they can do and this is the best return they can get back.

Now the question going forward is EP40,Boeser, DeBrusk, Hronek going to stay?

^ And Nicklas Lidstrom

mikemhg 12-13-2025 11:34 AM

Minnesota has 2 years to entice Hughes, and they'd be the only team that can sign him to a monster 8-year $20mil per contract.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if he signs an extension there in 2026, whether 8, or 4 years to align with when Jack's contract ends with the Devil's.

bobbinka 12-13-2025 12:54 PM

JR's gonna say what he's gonna say to try and spin it as positive as possible for the fanbase. QH will probably go on a podcast at some point and say he never said that. Truth is probably somewhere in between.

Hronek gets to be 1D, so hopefully that's enough to stay. Signed long term.

EP better step the f up. Bo's gone, JT's gone, Hughes' is gone, there's literally no one else to carry the team. If he still doesn't perform, everyone would welcome him asking for trade.

mb_ 12-13-2025 12:57 PM

I'm crushed.

But it had to be done imo. He wasn't gonna extend and would have risked losing him for much less or even worse, nothing. Also last in the league. Hopefully this is the first of many moves to come to finally start that rebuild that Linden was talking about.
