I don't know what their actual numbers are but I know in their league they own 4 of the top 6 in attendance for a game this season. |

Yah, $6M renos to be home to the Goldeneye ... and other events (presumably) https://www.tsn.ca/pwhl/article/pwhl...ific-coliseum/ “There’s just so much deep history in this building,” said Shelley Frost, the PNE’s president and CEO. ”And now, to have a new professional women’s hockey team as a new tenant in this building, it’s going to breathe new life and new history into this incredible venue.” The PNE spent more than $6 million to upgrade the building and prepare it for the PWHL season, improving the lighting, renovating the locker rooms and adding a new scoreboard. The updates are the most significant renovations the stadium has undergone since it was refurbished ahead of the 2010 Olympics, Frost said. |
Yes. They play at the Pacific Coliseum. Their season is super short. Like only 30 total games. So maybe they get 15 home games or so. When I went with a few friends to check it out, tickets were about $50 bucks. The arena was pretty packed. I guess because its new pro female hockey and there is lots of support. Will it continue 10 yrs from now? who knows... It's a different game that's all I can say. I find the tickets are more on the expensive side. Personally for me, I rather go to an Giants game or Abby Canucks game for the same price. |
I've tried to watch some games on tv and can't, so much sloppy play, the defending is horrible but doesn't matter since they can barely make tape to tape passes. It really is a different sloppy and slower games and it's not that cheap. If you want to see good cheap hockey BCHL is way more exciting and priced better as well. |
"The very first day she moved out, I moved some stuff in there right away, making sure she would never move back" LOL |

I have been to UBC and SFU hockey games. Tickets are cheap. $20 bucks or so. Most of these guys are ex major junior guys that didn't get drafted and so the next best thing is get a free ride and get a degree out of it. I am happy they changed the rules last yr. Now WHL players can still go south and play NCAA. Before if you played major junior, you were not eligible to play NCAA because they consider major junior semi pro. |
Come watch my beer league team for free :fullofwin: |

Good ... collect the picks. |
I definitely want to see him gone. He causes more problems than he solves on this team. It made no sense to trade for him and it still doesn't. We did the Oilers a favour and I still cannot for the life of me figure out why we did it. This was pure mismanagement because the money used could have kept Pius Suter instead. In a way, I think of his time here as karmic justice. Yeah, you get to play on your childhood team but you'll be 32nd in the league while doing it :lol |
A dirty elbow from Penguins' player Ruster on Brock: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...final-seconds/ The league better give a suspension on Rust for that cheap elbow into the back of Brock's head. |

He still has the ability to score I guess. You could use him in limited minutes on a 3rd line for secondary scoring. |
He's expiring this year, so he's pretty low risk for other teams, especially if you only need to pay a 3rd-6th round pick. If nucks retain, he's only $2.5mil and less if pro-rated for the remainder of the year (if that is still a thing?). I can see teams wanting to beef up their bottom, but also have guys that can play top 6 if/when injuries happen. He scored 6 goals in the playoffs last year and 13 a couple years back. That could be the difference in a series. |
yah, maybe he cashes his worth in the playoffs. Regular season, he's a liability. |
Yeah I imagine Canucks would retain about 50% so if you're looking for depth scoring at ~$2.5M, he's worth squeezing in. Playoffs are a war of attrition anyways. |
Kane definitely wants out of his hometown haha. His agent is contacting other teams: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...to-seek-trade/ |
Let the tank continue. The Canucks announced Tuesday that the veteran goalie will undergo hip surgery and miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...g-hip-surgery/ |
It's stuff teams dream of, 2 calder winners and a calder finalist, one of them a top defenseman in the league. Yet we are rebuilding. Wtf. |
I've just been on auto pilot emotionally about this team for so long and I think like many am just so disappointed and speechless. For the first time in a long time it felt like things were moving. Drafting Boeser and Horvat with Boeser winning the Calder. Drafting Demko and despite goalies not usually having a ton of hype as a prospect vs other players it felt like he was the future, my friends and I kept calling him our future Jonathan Quick Drafting EP40 with him winning the Calder Drafting Hughes no need to say more. With fuck ups of win now and signing bums to terrible contracts among many other mistakes along the way I had never felt so angry that all of the above just to name a few were completely wasted. Aside from the bubble run and the season we had a couple years ago it literally all went to waste. Been watching the Canucks for like 35 years of my life, I'm freaking tired. I know some other fans in this market have had it worse but shit when will this end. |
