Who would have guess Demko will be out again? lol

bobbinka 01-27-2026 11:42 AM

Not watching the games has been liberating

murd0c 01-27-2026 11:51 AM

I'm still watching all the games and the only stress I have is when they are winning (so basically no stress lol)

More news about Canucks injuries.

Boeser has a concussion after Rust's dirty elbow into Brock's head near the end of the game against Pittsburgh.

Oh my ... Demko has the worst of luck when it comes to injury !! Feel for the guy.

For sure! The yea lets lose and tank jokes aside I feel bad for him and any athlete who has had to deal with this string of injury luck of lack thereof. Any professional athlete just wants to be able to play and he can barely do that without having to be out again.

whitev70r 01-27-2026 01:23 PM

I just don't know with all this lingering injury if he can return to a rock steady form ... this is a lose lose situation. Never wish this on a pro athlete.

murd0c 01-27-2026 01:31 PM

All I know is if Demko is healthy it would be much harder to tank since he steals us games all the time.

The Official 2025/2026 Canucks & NHL Thread

Ahoy, matey!!

Stadium series game this Sunday in Tampa between the Bruins and Lightning will have a pirate theme haha.

Sunday's Stadium Series game between the Lightning and Bruins has a unique hook.

To honour Tampa's pirate history, the rink will sit atop a treasure map design which will cover Raymond James Stadium's field, the NHL announced Tuesday.

The decision behind the pirate theme ties into Tampa's annual Gasparilla Pirate Festival, which begins Saturday and runs through the end of February.

FYI. A pirate ship inside the Raymond James stadium is part of the NFL team Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Spoiler!

Minor detail but Boeser didn't win the Calder, it was Barzal that year.

AzNightmare 01-27-2026 03:55 PM

While Demko's shown he still has the ability to play (he's only 30), it gets harder and harder to bounce back each time he comes back.

I'm not convinced he's one surgery away to fix whatever issue he has. I don't know if this is an injury related from before, but whatever the case, it seems like he just can't seem to stay healthy, whether it's a new or old injury.

His trust as a starter is plummeting and unlikely any team will rely on him to be a legit #1 again. This isn't one of those "player needs a change of scenary" things. Everyone in the league knows he's good, but what good is that if he ends up playing less games than a typical backup.

mikemhg 01-27-2026 04:36 PM

^I'm not convinced that surgery will fix his issues long-term either.

The man is broken goods.

punkwax 01-27-2026 05:47 PM

Apparently Demko’s surgery is usually done to younger goalies without a prior history of hip related issues. That has me a bit concerned.

spoon.ek9 01-27-2026 06:32 PM

Shit luck for a guy that has really given his all to this crappy franchise. I'm sure we'd all love to be wrong about him and he comes back healthy but yeah.... doubts are valid.

Same with Boeser btw. Dude finally starts scoring again just to get elbowed in the head and dealt a concussion. I swear that's happened to him more than once.

RevYouUp 01-27-2026 07:42 PM

The Sharks are on another level compared to us, Celebrini is insane

Razor Ramon HG 01-27-2026 10:29 PM

It was only a little over 2 years ago when Sharks were bottom feeding. How fast the tables have turned.

My buddies and I made some free money off this game, lol.

Oh yes sorry you're right. If I recall Boeser could have made a fight Calder if he didn't get injured. He missed 1/4 of the season and still scored 29 goals. Barzal absolutely had a great one though.

Definitely helps when Sharks didn't just get any 1st OA pick, but most likely the best one since McDavid so far. He's currently surpassed Bedard.

Early 2020's had a few duds and mediocre 1st OA. I hope for Canucks' sake, next draft isn't going to be like one of those...

Nobody ever knows how one would truly play out but typical Canucks luck whoever we draft may end up being a dud lol. I'm thinking Alexis Lafreničre vibes or Shane Wright who I know didn't get drafted at #1 but for the longest time was considered to be.

whitev70r 01-28-2026 08:57 AM

^ 2012 Nail Yakupov vibe.

This year's draft doesn't seem like there are any 'generational' talent ... Gavin McKenna is ranked #1 - *yawn*.

Even last year, there was a real solid kid Matthew Schaefer NYI who is doing quite well in his 1st year in the NHL. NYI is in playoff spot right now ... I forgot how they were last year though.

Same as Montreal back in 2022 as I was looking at historical #1 picks today like who the hell is Juraj Slafkovský and when did Montreal get a #1 pick. Granted if I still watched and followed hockey as closely as I used to of course I'd know who all these guys are but sadly I don't anymore.

spoon.ek9 01-28-2026 04:53 PM

Slafjovsky was drafted ahead of Shane Wright lol. It's the exact reason he glared at the Montreal table as he was on stage for the Kraken.

lol, entitlement?
As mediocre as Slafkovsky is, he's still better than Wright.

spoon.ek9 01-28-2026 05:10 PM

He legit thought he was a lock at #1. So when MTL passed over him, it was a bit chaotic and he ended up being picked fourth IIRC.

Gumby 01-28-2026 05:59 PM

Lol, reminds me of Alexander Daigle's comment "nobody remembers number two".
