I should add that the reason why I didn't get a dash cam earlier was because there were simply too many options and it overwhelmed me. Someone here would say this was the best, but then two weeks later, a better one came out.

One day, I said, fuck it, and just bought whatever and I have no ragrets. I would have been happy with a $60 refurb dash cam.

Re: Red Tiger Cam sale - I can attest that the current sale price is better than what I originally got it for, and it comes with a free 128GB SD card for you to save video files to should you want to save it onto your computer.

There were tests done a few years ago (like 7+ years ago) and the underlying camera hardware were all roughly the same, the difference really is the software, extra functionalities, and packaging, so the video quality was about the same regardless of which brand you got.

Now has that changed since then I'm not sure, but chances are between a $1500 and a $500 camera you are going to get about the same video quality. When I got my cameras 4k was all the rage, I just went with a regular HD.

Obviously don't get a $30 one and I'd say go for a 2 channel one where you can see front and back.

I swear by it, peace of mind but also cover yourself. Was easy to show ICBC that a truck veered into and hit me on the port mann bridge, and also say on cam that he fell asleep at the wheel.

On my FL5 I went with the BlackVue DR770X-2CH, with the anti-tamper accessory from Blackboxmycar in Richmond, and had them install it.

On my RDX I have two Viofo's which have been solid cameras. Front cam, I hardwired myself and tucked the wires (it's very easy to do it all). The rear camera which was my old camera I used in my FK8, I just have plugged in the rear USB port and did some simple wire management through the folding seats/headliner.

Any dashcam is better than no dashcam, and a mid-spec model in the $100-$200 range will recoup its cost quickly if you get into an accident where it’s not your fault.

The more expensive ones will have fancier features, but you can always upgrade later one once you know what features you want.

most of my best recordings of shit on the road was done by my old $30 one tbh. it was able to still record if someone ran a red or not.

back when my family had 3 cars for my 3rd instead of getting a cam i had a dash crab claw and held my phone and put it in record mode as most of my trips lasted less than 30 min.

i don't hardwire mine, but i realize most of the shit that happens to my car is when it's parked (hit & run/parking lot BS) and thus goes unrecorded.

Viofo is where's at...skip the premium stuff like blackvue that are actually even less reliable

even project farm's test the viofo came out on top

yes it has hand-me down and could've used this mod money towards a sports car vibes but kinda more interesting this way

from what i gather TRD are now going to trucks and GR/GR Sport to cars for the sporting trims so was a bit surprised to see GT-S name this decade

A review on the new Prelude out of the UK - a bit long but the tl;dr is they quite like it. I kinda dig it - I love that it's typical Honda with the details. They don't expect to sell many but I suspect this is just a precursor to something else - probably normalising this powertrain for sporty uses.

It’s trash ! Lost opportunity. No best in biz Honda manual and it looks like a Prius.

Yes I swear by dashcams. I got a Thinkware F200 (predecessor to Q200) installed at Overdrive in Richmond.

Have to say, one of the perks of modern cars are the dash cams built in from the factory.

Looks like a civic more than a prelude. Call it the civic coupe is more appropriate imo

No I’m busy dressing up dog for Halloween !

These chinaman kids have the worst costumes. Zero effort. At least the whiteys try. These little chinks just put on some hat or hairband and expect candy. Fuck you little bitches. My dog is better dressed

whitev70r 11-01-2025 12:26 PM

Thanks ONrdukes, $140 from Amazon (cheaper than Redtiger website!) ... pretty basic 2 channel dashcam. C'mon MF'ers, ready for brake checkers, rear enders, and just feeling more confident going into Richmond now.

Badhobz 11-01-2025 12:27 PM

Why didn’t you buy the Costco dash cam ? If it goes kaput you can always refund it. It’s also a 2 channel one.

whitev70r 11-01-2025 12:35 PM

Can you not sh*t on me for listening to ONrduke's recommendation.

Badhobz 11-01-2025 12:38 PM

Stupid white man. You should have listened to your inner chinaman. You know, the one that obviously has taken over your existence ? The one that knows about old school pelican restaurant on Hastings…. That inner mofo would have told you to buy Costco just in case…. In case of failure. (Plus it’s cheaper!!!!)

If you haven't bought one already, get a high-endurance microSD to go with it - something like this:

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07NY23WBG

They wear better than standard SD cards and are designed for dashcams / security cams that are constantly recording.

whitev70r 11-01-2025 06:31 PM

It came with a 128 GB card but will go to these high endurance one if I need to replace.

Listening to me was probably your biggest life's mistake. And that's coming from me. :D

When in doubt, listen to Badhobz.
