Well an unfortunate event today has sparked an impulse buy of a bunch of parts again  Was driving on the highway and saw a rather large rock flying towards my car from the opposite direction, I thought my windshield was toast (again...for the 3rd time) but thankfully the rock fell quicker than I expected and I heard a loud thump as it presumably made contact with my bumper. Unfortunately, instead of the rock hitting the large grey plastic expanse of my bumper, it hit the silver bumper garnish in the lower centre area of the bumper, creating a couple very annoying and visible deep scratches on there. Didn't want to paint it or wrap it or whatever so I purchased a new OEM one for $45 USD :alone: The existing one is slightly discoloured and dented up from 11 years and almost 300,000kms of driving anyway, so it was time for a new one.

http://i.imgur.com/k0S2mH0.jpg

And since the front bumper has to come off to replace the damaged bumper garnish, I figured I'd yank the headlights out at the same time which also requires bumper removal, clear the amber corners and finally get around to doing a projector retrofit :alonehappy:

Bought the Nilight H1 projectors off Amazon which seems to get stellar reviews. $42.99 USD can't complain, especially for the supposedly awesome performance.

Amazon.com: Nilight® 2.5" MINI HID BIXENON PROJECTOR LENS FOR H1 BULB CAR GIFT:CHROME SHROUND: Automotive (http://www.amazon.com/Nilight%C2%AE-MINI-BIXENON-PROJECTOR-LENS/dp/B00B21R0TA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1437980532&sr=8-1&keywords=nilight+2.5%22)

Ordered a pair of H1 HID bulbs as well from VVME to replace my current H4 bi-xenons once my H1 projector retros are installed.

Going to need to locate these clear side markers as well to match my clear corners once I open up my headlights, but these are getting extremely difficult to find so gonna need to keep my eyes peeled

http://www.valuepicturehosting.com/accounts/10007012000/images/element_02_sidemarker.jpg

Also toying with the idea of sticking on an EZ lip...

UPDATE: Bought the last EZ Lip in stock at the South Surrey Cambodian Tire LOL

Could crosspost this in the "what did you just buy for you car" thread, but I guess it belongs here ultimately...

After a painstaking 4 month wait for a delayed container, my shipment from Japan arrived!

I ordered large parts off of Yahoo auctions, through Right Drive Parts in Ontario. Kept my shipping charges down by putting them in their container, but due to the LA port strike it kept getting delayed. So lame!

But now I have my parts installed: Genuine Autech 260RS front bumper, rare NA slat grille with badge removed, and Dayz rear hatch spoiler with LED brake light.

Spoiler was easy to install, had to drill a hole for the wire...but removing the old damn adhesive and polishing out the old marks from it took over 2 hours :(

At last, finally how I want her to look though :fuckyea: Pretty sure I have the only Series 2 front end in Canada!

New shoes...Finally, put them on.

But didn't do alignment.
High speed felt a bit vibrating.
Going to have TSS do the alignment on Wednesday.
Hopefully, vibrating goes away.

^Did you lower the car at the same time?

Just changing the wheels shouldn't need an alignment.

If you have a vibration it sounds like a balancing issue, not alignment.

Looks legit though...

I have this question posted in another thread.
http://www.revscene.net/forums/704656-high-speed-vibration-after-new-rims-tires-installed.html
Got the Same answer as you mentioned.

The car was lowered a month ago with Stock rims/tires.
And it is equipped with Air Suspension.
So, It was just a link adjustment to have my car lowered.
And no vibration till new rims/tires swapped.

Already booked with TSS to have a look my car on this Wednesday.
The new rims/tires were installed from different place.

Not gonna look in the other thread, but you should get an alignment for the lowering; however, I am doubtful that's your problem.

TSS has a corgi tire machine, so they can spin the wheels to make sure they are balanced. I'm almost positive they won't be, so they will probably have to balance the tires again.

Machine shop finally checked the cylinder bore on my engine, a bit of taper (not surprising at 186k) so I went and ordered the following:

Brian Crower valves, springs, guides and keepers
Mahle 86.5mm pistons
ARP head studs
crank and conrod bearings
TRD head gasket

Crank and rods show no signs of wear or damage so they'll stay OEM. New brake lines for the ABS delete are also on order so hopefully the car can be wrapped up shortly.

It was actually a private sale but still brand new parts. I really pursued the seller to ship to me because i saved a good chunk of $!

Snagged a set of 18x8 OZ racing classe wheels on Craigslist for stupid cheap that actually fit my stupid focus.

18x8 et35, 5x108. They have tires but I'll just toss them. Will give a more aggressive stance though so should be good. They are in pretty good shape, but considering the price I got them at I think I will spring for a refinish. A good sand blasting and powder coating will hopefully be found for reasonable prices

I initially went in for a custom tune but was told my sh*t was too basic to warrant the cost of the chip and dyno tune, so I just threw her on the dyno for a baseline.

She made some farty noises and then went BWAAAHHH up to redline.

Exactly. A new set of KWs is $2000, so even if I have to spend a bit to make them perfect, I'll be fine. That said, the seller says no leaks, and they ride well, so hopefully he isn't full of shit. Coming from a part out of his M3 that got rear ended I believe.

I know, it's not as glamorous as a car shot, but it still technically falls within the thread's guidelines... :p

Edit: Should mention that this is for the Saab. Only a couple of those things are strictly necessary (throttle cable and direct ignition cassette), but I figured I'd might as well do a full maintenance on the car over the winter. That said, it's been in storage for the last year and has only been run a couple times during the summer. I'm sure I'll find some more shit to repair once I start tearing into it. :okay:

Lol you aren't wrong! They are reasonably priced and go on sale frequently, not too heavy (19.0lbs for 18x8.5), hub centric, good offset for mk7, and takes OEM bolts and caps. I needed winters pronto so these were convenient to get.

Per this thread I just bought this.

As tastic said, Neuspeed wheels are unbelievably well-matched to VWs and Audis and are priced very well for how light and nice they are. I had the RSE12 on my GTI, and brought them over to the R as my winters. The RSE10 specifically, goes very well with the MK7 lines.

I probably would've went with OZ Leggera HLTs if they came in 18 x 8.5" and didn't require hubcentric rings and another set of bolts.

I'm not saying the Hawks are good pads but didn't you put so much heat into your brakes that you warped the backing plate of your pads?
I thought I remember seeing you post a picture of the carnage semi recently

Yes the pads were tracked, but DTC 30's are designed as, well, a track pad.

Custom spacer for between the engine and transmission on the rally bug. I can't get enough space for my hydraulic clutch conversion without a few custom additions. This is one piece of the puzzle.
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1645/25195089346_f784f3c167_z.jpg

The next piece, looks like a regular old pressure plate...but custom. It's significantly thinner than a standard beetle pressure plate, uses special springs and case to make it thinner. It's designed to be used with a dual-plate clutch system, but I talked to Kennedy and they were able to match the hold of my current pressure plate but in this thinner design. I'll use it with a single clutch plate, allowing me (with a little machine work) to sink it into the flywheel.

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1516/25195088426_23f182dc1d_z.jpg

Between the thinner clutch setup, the spacer, and a new Hydraulic adapter I will machine, there will be more than enough space? Lol. A little too involved in the Escort project right now to go any further though, gotta get that shell ready for paint.

Decided to go high tech and ditch my individual wideband, boost controller and boost gauges and go to the all in one from Innovate, being all tied together it can instantly cut the boost if it detects a dangerous AFR or overboosting which seems a lot safer. Hatch shocks
Throttle cable
Trunk release switch
Door pull
E-lights switch
Driver door lock actuator
Power mirror adjuster switch
Central lock control module
Speaker grill

And a piece of the wiring harness for my DD Acura. Stupid OEM design for the harness in the door means that wires tend to crack and break every time the door opens.

About $500 in parts, picked up from Pickapart in the 'Wack for around $70. And, yes, all the bits work. :p

Does buying a new vehicle, 'for my car', count? lol. Decided to upgrade the tow rig, and ended up buying a Titanic-sized project. Cummins diesel swap, 5spd transmission swap, external overdrive unit. Whole truck was disassembled and suspension/frame powder coated. Needs to be finished though. Plan is to finish it as a boring pickup truck first, and then in a year or two swap a classic body onto it with an additional upgrade. CCA Ramp-Truck?!?

For the most part reliability. Well, it was either paint or swap and I thought long term this would be the better choice. It well be kept stock for the most part. I am going to keep my fmic for my new engine. Might try and find a downpipe for it and I think I'll look for a stronger clutch. I do have a stage 1 exedy but not sure if it's good enough or not. Also looking at getting a light weight flywheel

It was listed for 1350 but with No ecu. Plus taxes on top. Got it down to 1250 all taxes and shipping in. If I picked it up it would have been 1050 but that would mean a trip to Calgary and back.

Found the ecu else where for 215usd shipped

So easy to pour and they don't leak at all. I've carried them back from Bellingham on their sides. I'm sick of those no vent gas tanks. Plus, these float. Pricey, for sure, but damn they're built to last. Made in Canada quality (Sceptre).

There are bolt in engines that can make that much power and more.

Why go through the hassle of a K20 swap? There's lots of bolt in options.

I don't have one reason for doing it. It's a unique motor swap and I feel like the MR2 would be a perfect platform for it. I could of gone with 3gen, 4gen or a 2gr swap but I want something different. The k20a2 is very capable in stock form, I think it is more capable than the Toyota line up of motors, maybe I'm wrong but I plan to find out. I am installing dual springs and a few small upgrades to it to handle a bit of boost. The aftermarket support is huge and less expensive compared to 3sgte. I see that it is being installed in different makes of cars (NSX, Miatas, etc.) kind of like the LS# for different makes of muscle cars.

I find the MR2 can be fine tuned and started to cherry pick from other cars like the S2000 seats now the K20a2. I used to own a modded 1992 Prelude S with the f22a1 and swapped in a jdm h22a w/5 speed lsd tranny and a SRV interior back in 2004 and drove it as a DD for a few years. I loved that car, the h22a had a mild build and I was impressed with the power and reliability.

I guess I will find out in spring time if it was worth it.

Can't wait to see the outcome of your build! Any of these swaps been done locally? Know of any 4th gen swaps locally as well?

Thanks, I'll be posting the build on RS + other forums. Russ (Immortality) has done the 2gr swap and had his car featured on Smoking Tire. I don't know any gen4 swaps around here, mostly in the US.

More parts will be showing up very soon (custom turbo, manifold, etc.)

There's one 4th gen swap that I know of, in the Vancouver area.

Damn, Toyota knows how to build a chassis, Honda knows how to build a motor. Let the sacrilege begin!

There was a dude who put a k20 into a w30 at some point as well. It was beastly.

I posted a video in the bad ass video section of a guy swapping a k20 in a porsche. It's just the way it is now, best bang for your dollar.
And a fully built k20a2 turbo in a NA1 NSX.

Picked up the manifold and turbo for the swap, test fitting the set up.

Never knew something like this existed, so I bought one. No more brake kits and c clamps as I recently repainted my 4 piston calipers. Ratcheting brake piston compressor.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. I have bad experience from buying on supraforums a few years back as well. From someone with positive ratings too. Bought what was supposingly a Supra TT ECU off his car. Turned out to be an Aristo ECU. Was banged up and shitty/shady. Seemed more to be junkyard goods.
