it is the Detolf case....well the glass shell and supports...the base and top i built myself...still have to fix the grooves as my cutting skills were a bit weak....and install a mirror on the base...and maybe stain it

The glass shelves I got cut at Michael's...I used their custom framing service (glass is a bit thinner then the standard detolf case glass) i got it cut 11.75"x 15"

I used rope clamps from Home Depot to support the glass (recommended on another website to use these)

my dad has been a huge nascar fan for years...say what you want but the sport is actually pretty cool for the barn yard technology it has. an example is the normally aspirated 357 ci v8 engines that just last year became fuel injected running at 9500 rpm with 900 hp. anyway he has over 200 nascar diecast models...and not the cheap ones either. he also has over 250 franklin mint diecast cars. collection is huge!!!

I believe they have Exclusive rights/license to produce 1:18 scale models. The Tamiya ones are all 1:12 scale. If you guys want Higher end Ferrari models, look no further than BBR. They are pretty bawls!

I'm not sure how the licensing works for BBR since it's somewhat "exclusive" to Hot Wheels. Maybe It's an exclusive in North America only since MATTEL is american. I know BBR is Italian so the licensing might be different. I know AutoArt once wanted to produce Ferrari models but they said the licensing from Ferrari is ridiculously expensive/high.

The shop i went to was operated by a rich 2nd gen, I ended up buying 2 cars, Zonda R + Mclaren F1. The original price on boxes were about $290 for the Zonda R and $260 for the Mclaren F1, so it was going to be a $550 purchase, since I was kinda there during a weekday and no one else was in the shop, after about 45min of checking out the contents + haggling, (there are alot of fake autoarts floating around, especially the signature boxes which werent see thru, so I opened all the boxes before handling over the cash) I ended up paying $420, which was like 25% off. I kept telling him how I am buying 2, and not any 2, but the most enpensive ones he was carrying in the shop and so on...

I got it from Ikea and had custom glass cut at Lang's Glass in Richmond.
I had to order extra pegs for the shelves from ikea mixed with pegs from homedepot to cram that many shelves in.

I believe the total cost was about $350 with the led lights pictured

I started 1/43 as 1/18 is getting too expensive. I find the selection much better for 1/43 as there are more cars that like to collect.

I re-contacted the original seller that sold me a TL model back in 2007 and asked to check for any remaining stock...they found one and one only.

I have 2 now.. one silver and the new one is dark gray (enroute).

I've got the Honda Tomy dealership... did you buy the cheaper ones from the UK or whatever? That's what I did... but I also noticed that the Japanese/HK version (which costs way more) has a motor to make the display area turn automatically... on the Euro version the panel is there for the batteries but there's no motor and you have to turn it yourself haha... oh I see your NIssan one has the power switch... awesome...

Ya I got the Honda from an ebay seller in UK, alot cheaper than the Japanese version. Didn't really care about the electronic turntable just want the decals lol

The Nissan dealership wasn't released in UK I believe, so I had to buy the Japanese version.

I will be buying another Hypercity Tomica Dealership and converting it to a Toyota/Scion dealership soon :)

Not mine but that's what it looks like. It's an old Japanese brand made out of tin and comes with a friction drive. Apparently one of these in mint condition with the original box can fetch for over $10,000. Mine, however, has no box, has a busted friction drive and has dents from being played with.

I know I had fun playing with it as a kid, but god damn... if someone had told me it would be worth a shit load of money when I was younger, I would have made my parents place it in a lock box at the bank. :lol
