Just from the photos the bbr seems better. Bbr has been making 1/43 resin way longer then looksmart. Looksmart is relatively a newer company. If pricing was the same I would go with bbr

Its a plastic model, I my self haven't heard of Aoshima quality of the casts looks good with little flash. Although I was hoping it was going to be one you have to paint. it came prepainted, might have to stick with tamyia after this.

That's very rare and hard to find, I've been looking for one for a while already. Most white ones go for like $200 on Ebay and if you want the Mugen version, expect to pay $350+ that is if you can even find one.

lightly pull back on the side mirrors and then stick a nail behind the glass.

so it's strictly a standard static resin model? can you tell me what the QC problems were? eg. paint? or just the earlier now-discontinued versions? because of the low production numbers i'm afraid that a batch could mean a big chunk of them are bad :(

I've been having a bad run lately, got a Hi-Story Nissan Silvia recently with missing clearcoat issues all over it (I was told when I complained that it's because it's a handmade model and there are always imperfections... I get that, but it's pretty major when the car's paintjob has flat spots) and my AutoArt RX-7 in blue showed up with a piece of dust stuck in the paintjob just behind the driver's door... if companies are going to charge $200+ for stuff they better not lose sight of the basics!

I recently got an Ignition model 1:43 of a Nissan Silvia in the midnight blue (almost a purple colour) and it's a nice model BUT there are lots of spots where they basically just missed with the clearcoat and the paint looks flat and this is all over the model... so I would say their painting standards are pretty shabby at this point. I was unhappy enough that I complained to where I bought it and all I got back was an email stating they would look into it and they advised me that handmade models are always going to have imperfections. Yah, I get that... but painting the body of the car shouldn't be one of those imperfections.

if it is any consolation one of my autoart sti's had a dust blemish also, but i managed to wet sand it out. autoart has a nice amount of clear on the metal parts, but the plastic portions... not so much, if any. :/

after shipping and taxes it was roughly $250cdn. the HK seller offered only one shipping option (express air) though with insurance and tracking and it took just over a week to get here. i know i paid a premium because of the color, but because i can only afford one it might as well be the best one i can get. the cheapest i could find it was 17500yen before shipping... but on one of the diecast message boards i lurk on i saw someone from SG post that he paid less than $150cdn for his because he preordered :cry:

i still don't know where all the weight comes from. as i mentioned before it's heavier than my diecast autoart R34, and it's the first release vspec with nothing fancy on it. without taking it apart the only thing i can see that is metal are the axles on the IG model. it dosen't help the shipping weight at all :confused:

Three main places I goto in hk are ModelcarExpo, NewAce, and Hung Hing in wanchai.


When I goto to the hk side. I usually start of with going to Hung Hing Toys (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hung-Hing-Toys-%E9%B4%BB%E8%88%88%E7%8E%A9%E5%85%B7/173281129410228)first then I would head to New Ace Models (http://www.newace.com.hk/landing.htm). okay, this is going to sound weird, but someone i know went to one of those auctions for bankrupt/closed businesses awhile back, and he scored a bunch of big matching glass display cases that they used to showcase china for really cheap (i think it was from the old KIM JOHN chain). this is the kind that has the enclosed cubby in the bottom with the locking sliding doors where he keeps his model boxes. it's almost the same as those glass cases wilkinsons automobilia has on the lower level were all the 1/18 models are, but a bit narrower (ie. meant to be against a wall)... you could try that?

it was long time ago at cartronix at crystal mall, before they downsized... so, many many years ago.

i still see them pop up on ebay though, but they aren't cheap because they have been discontinued for so long.

there are decals that go with it, but i'm clumsy at putting those on and haven't had the courage to try it yet.

weird question of the day: how do you all keep the dust down on your collection? sometimes when i am at stores i see a small cup of water in the corner of a display case, which i assume is there to attract dust? humidity control? i'm not sure... just wondering.

Ive got two of their 911's... a 964 Rs and a 993 Rs... both very nicely made cars.

exceptional QC on the car, itself being a handmade product. 964 is perfect, the 993 wheels looks a tad off... but thats my only complaint. The paint looks awesome and same with interior features.

what is your budget? i am guessing from your aliexpress link it's roughly $20?

you could try trolling toysrus or walmart, etc. for hot wheels but the color you want could be difficult to get.

They have these really small I think like 1/48 scales that are Honda's. I saw a EK and an NSX (IN BLACK!) they were like 35 bucks though and they were really small. Be warned....the 1/18s that they have are collectables and I've seen an autoart nsx there for like $300

i'm really starting to get into resin models now. i used to think that not having moving parts made them worthless but there if you are going for detail at an affordable cost it starts to make more sense?
