it was nearly $200usd, not including the cost of the car itself. it started off as a plain unmarked white motormax crown vic that he repainted, decaled, and added in all the lighting and the stuff inside (ie .joker).

Ive got probably 200+ of them loool, I remember even back then I'd research the most rare editions and I would kill my mom going from store to store till I found the one.

Picked up this vintage Tomy car carrier a little bit ago on a bit of a whim, really happy with it... surprising thing to me is the entire trailer is made of metal, not plastic! Great build quality and detailing... has little wheel chalk areas and dips for the tires of the cars to go into so they don't roll around free when loaded and the ramp goes down for loading. The truck has mirrors to attach but they're separated in the box for storage so I didn't put them on for the pictures.

It's quite a bit bigger than I expected actually! Would have preferred a dark navy blue or maybe a dark grey, but the green suits the period I guess and is growing on me:

these were the cars that first got me into diecast: vintage 1:18 jada. as the story (i heard) goes, once upon a time jada toys started getting into diecast cars like these. the yellow celica i think was based on a real car that was in an issue of import racer (are they still around?). they came with tons of extra aftermarket (tuner/ricer) parts and you can build it up to your own spec.... and then suddenly something hit the fan over the sponsorship decals the cars came with and then they stopped selling them :(

Make sure you check the seatbelts, there are still a lot of them out there with the seats in backwards (passenger and driver seat are mixed up so seatbelt doesn't loop through the seats)

yes. well, sort of.

this was back in the day when i was more clueless than i am now i didn't understand what an "error car" was.

there used to be an rc hobby shop in surrey the had a decent selection of diecast (i've since forgotten the name of the shop).

they had a first edition kyosho skyline gt-r group A calsonic car that had a error in the sponsorship decals.

i brought it back to the shop asking for replacement because i considered it to be defective. they didn't have a replacement and offered to discount it for me but i took a refund instead.

couple of months later i'm reading a message board forum about high-value error cars and the calsonic i returned was one of them. it's now worth hundreds of dollars more than what i originally would have paid for it... FML :cry:

so now i keep trying to pay more attention to what i buy. i'm not trying to stuff my shelves, and i limit myself to 1st editions if possible (unless there are future releases that are significantly better), or has personal significance, which makes me reluctant to sell...

as for your kyosho... i call it part of the "kyosho gang of four", ie. 300zx/supra/nsx/rx7. they were a big deal back then but by today's standards they are barely maisto quality, but worth hundreds of $$$ more. they are all practically blue chip investments on the collector front.

go figure.

i know someone who got the original 300zx as a gift that he won't sell to me. he's not even a collector and he dosen't deserve it and it should be miiine lol. at least he knows enough not to take it out of the box and it's still sealed.

i've known him for at least 15 years and it's been on his desk at work (he's changed jobs 3 times now) or sitting on his fireplace mantle (he's moved twice)... and once as a doorstop(!). that bastard leaves it out for me to see just to mock me i swear. he says he will leave it in his will to donate to charity instead of me, and should it ever disappear one day he'll know who to hunt down.

^ its autoworld. Markups are sorta crazy. Anywhere from 25-50%. They had a few limited autoart japanese police cars for like $180 and they got a 787B there as well as the merc S class with leather seats.

if you want my r33, which i said before i didn't really want to sell, the price for it will be $150 so that i can replace it with a z-tune :Devil:

otherwise, wilkinsons has it for $130 and if you preorder now they will get it to you with their next autoart shipment in 4 weeks time.

according to their latest email flyer, wilkinsons is changing their business model. they are going to start carrying less inventory and do more pre-orders from now on. that way they don't run out of space like they are now and they aren't stuck with stock that won't sell.

I have a decent sized collection of AutoArt Japanese cars ... but don't know a thing about bike diecasts.

Minichamps makes most of the bike models that are good quality and the MotoGP ones... IXO also makes a lot in a really small scale (slips my mind right now) and those are very nice, I have a couple of those...

The rest are all the Maisto-type that were filling up Superstore a couple years back... passable... cheap price... but certainly not nice or high-quality.

I don't think the demand for the non AE-86 models is that good, especially outside of Japan... I mean... Jada didn't stay in the Initial-D business very long with its 1:64/1:43 lineup... they're only worth a lot now because of how short the production run ended up being.

If you guys are interested, this guy posts up awesome photos of pretty much every upcoming AutoArt model (and some other brands too if you're interested)... some of the exotics coming this year are crazy... 177, EB110, etc. etc. etc.... it's going to be a tough year on the ol' bank account!

Well said, but what I meant was most of the postd in this forum seem to autoart or kyosho or minichamps. Stuff that usually people have pride in show casing! But again theres always even more expensive than those brands mentioned above, haha I drove my dads 745 since I eas 17 till I got my TL TypeS at the age of 20

i'm not sure. the first release models are always a sure bet depending on the popularity of the car but later releases... i don't know? for example "upgraded" in this case is mostly just the addition of the front side windows... the first release r34 base model i have has no windows.
