I tried it at Planet Hollywood. Didn't really work for me as the hotel was full (fight weekend), he did give us a bit of an upgrade though.

It doesn't hurt to try so I say go for it, I definitely will again next time!

Tried at Flamingo before and got denied.

We booked a flight + hotel package so she said that she couldn't make changes to it because it was "set in stone". 2 seconds later she says "I can however offer you an upgrade for $30/night" so she basically just tried to upsell me.

Fucking bitch.

The trick supposedly doesn't work at MGM anymore because the managers there know of it and have told all front desk staff that anybody caught accepting it will be fired.

TheSalesman 04-28-2010 12:13 PM

I tried the $20 trick at the encore last week but it didnt work.
She also said I can upgrade for $20 a night.

XS is a nice club but I had the best time at TAO.

cirrus 04-28-2010 06:23 PM

Just got a great deal with promo code ARSOGB to book at Aria Hotel.
4 nites thrus to tuesday for $555.52 USD
And also book via Allegiant Air for $213.16 USD

Frenchie 04-28-2010 09:29 PM

Got denied by a 40-50 year old Filipino woman at Aria. Presented her with the sandwich. She saw the $20 and said, "What is this for?" She's was completely clueless. Will definitely try it again elsewhere though.

thats probably the best place to eat 24hours.
Pretty much everything else that's 24hours sucks.

rawr 05-03-2010 01:25 PM

Wynn's buffet is very very good! By far the best buffet i've ever eaten..

I thought the Wynn's buffet was pretty average. For the money, I rather have gone to PH or Rio instead.

Cheesecake factory and Lux are owned by the same company and pretty much the same restaurant, in case you have been to CF before.

Personally I didn't like their buffet much. The first time I went it was good, went back couple months later and thought it was avg, went back again a couple months later and it wasn't good at all.

I like Bellagio better and if you happen to go you can save yourself like $10 or so by going at the end of their lunch buffet. Unlike other buffets who closes for a bit between lunch and dinner Bellagio doesn't. Which means if you go with say 20 mins left on their lunch buffet you pay the lunch price but they are already switching everything over inside to dinner. Check their website for times, It's like around 5 or something like that can't remember exactly.

PH's dinner buffet I found was pretty solid. Went 3 times and all 3 times it was pretty decent so no complaints on my end.

sonick 05-05-2010 07:49 AM

Damn, may long weekend isnt too bad, 3 nights strip view at monte carlo around $525 flights from bellingham...

You can do that at most buffets that don't close. I think you can do it at Wynn too lol.

But yea PH for the money is pretty good.

the $20 trick worked for me at the flamingo, got a suite upgrade for 3 nights. my buddy got upgraded at the bellagio for $20 when he was with his boo. got a fountain view room for a 5 day stay. this was about a year ago.

i'm going down for wsop, a few friends are entered. anyone been in the tourney or down there during that time? any tips etc? it's july 5 and on. i've heard it's a really good vibe during wsop.

regardless, i'll be at sapphires for a bit. ;p

Anyone ever go by themselves? I'm thinking about going in June by myself. I'm mainly going to play poker so that would take up most of my day I guess it's the times when I'm not playing that might be a bit weird. I've also wanted to go during WSOP so I'd like to check that out. I have no interest in Clubs or anything like that so no worries about that being awkward. 75% sure I'm going, need to make up my mind this week.

It shouldn't be too bad since you're primarily going for a gambling run. You'll be spending most of your time in the casinos and you can spend the rest walking the strip and taking pictures and checking out all the hotels. You can hit up any one of the various gun shops and play around. You can spend a day just taking a taxi/bus down to Fremont St. and seeing how the 'old vegas' is like.

You can also check out Spearmint Rhinos but I know you're married with kids so I don't know how open you are to that.

You could always rent a sports car and rip it down the desert towards hoover dam. We don't have many roads like they do in Vegas for you to do your best impression of Fast n Furious :mamoru:

My friend goes by himself for poker runs. He usually goes for a day or two and if he usually treats himself to a blond or two to keep him company if you know what i mean.

quasi 05-18-2010 02:01 PM

Alright convinced, booked my flight this afternoon.

when is the best season to go vegas?
Best entertainment, price, pretty much overall

orange7 05-21-2010 02:00 AM

what is a good hotel to say in?

price, amenities, and location.

Would the trip be cheaper to have a hotel right at all the events instead of a hotel which costs less but requires most travel distance. Would the taxi cost be less than the extra bucks spent on a hotel which is near all the events.

any past experience?

btw, how much did you end up spending per day on food and events (not including shopping and gambling)?

all my travelling (vegas twice and oahu once) has been done by myself, sometimes it sucks not having someone with you but by yourself you don't have to compromise on what activities will be done and it's honestly not that bad.
