^ and then it was for fun :)

Just a bit on the setup:
-setting sun (just before dusk) to the right of the camera (2 o'clock position from camera)
-Sunpak 383 Super triggered with DX PT-04 (on full power; to the left of the subjects)
-flash was mounted approximately 6-7 feet high

LOL....ACTUALLY, no light at all was reflected from the building itself. We were on the far side of the parking lot facing the hangar doors (the least reflective part of the building). I should post up a picture without any artificial lighting...their faces were virtually black because of the sun backlighting them. I used the sun to kind of halo their backs.

both very cool pictures! I think I like the first better though. The second is very cool, but the lights on either side are a little distracting :( Great idea though! :)

Thanks.

What I would have liked to do is add either a reflector towards them, or use a flash from a lower angle to cut out some front shadows.

Levitron 04-14-2008 09:31 PM

I like this one. Lights add drama :D

Ronin 04-15-2008 12:07 AM

I thought it would actually be rather boring without the lights. I could've avoided them altogether.

The band is called Ill Scarlett. I've never heard of them but they're locals...or Canadians...at least...or something. They weren't bad. They did the obligatory cover of Rihanna's "Umbrella" like everyone else on the planet...as well as a strangely awesome punk-ska version of Ace of Base's "All That She Wants".

OffroadZuki 04-15-2008 06:23 AM

Ronin: that second pic is awesome...love the angle/using all the front/background junk to set the scene....

Levitron: great lighting on those two guys. Definitely gotta get me a trigger.
