great wedding shots! did you use a flash on the first one? I really like the shoes hanging! :)

Senna4ever 03-16-2008 11:26 AM

Thanks. No flash. We opened the big doors on the balcony. Some of the tungsten room lamps were on, so white balance was a bitch.

The first pic is posted in the game thread, but i felt these three go together so I'm posting it here too.

mia9201 03-16-2008 05:47 PM

was those taken at the vancouver art gallery?

u guys got awesome pix!

Senna4ever 03-16-2008 07:23 PM

Yep, those were taken inside the VAG. We got special permission to take photographs inside. Had to jump through a lot of hoops to get that permission though.

Boostslut 03-16-2008 07:55 PM

Amazing photo's Senna! Really well done!

The best shots you've posted thus far.

How did you "jump through the hoops"? Care to share? :p

Senna4ever 03-17-2008 02:23 AM

Thanks, Levitron.

All I can say is that going to Focal Point has opened up many opportunities, and many connections have been made. I'm not sure when I can go shoot inside the VAG again, if ever. It was a special day, which I totally exploited.

Something I've wanted to try for a long time with a groom...

Tom you taking that 400mm to weddings? haha. Getting into wild life now?

Senna, those are your best photos to date imo. Great job with them!

This Sunday's season-ender Giants game marked a special occasion - the 80th birthday of Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe (also a part-owner of the Giants). Part of the ceremony included a huge birthday cake rolled out on this restored 1956 truck (to mark Gordie's first year playing pro), and attendance by (from left to right), Marty Howe (Gordie's eldest son), Bill Gadsby, Jean Beliveau, Walter Gretzky, Mr. Hockey, Pat Quinn, and Marcel Dionne.

Giants went on to beat Chilliwack 5-3, outshooting them 36-14 (in typical Giants fashion), and a number of fights in the late going set the tone for the teams' upcoming playoff series starting this Friday.

^Yeah, I like how the guy about to get married sees himself in the mirror in a funeral jacket... :lol

Thanks! It's pretty rare to be able to take photos in the VAG.

The scary thing about the Giants is that they're so sound defensively while being a beast offensively. Tyson Sexsmith has the lowest GAA in the league, or so I saw on TV the other day...while they score like five goals a game.

Yeah, that's about the norm. Sexy has *NINE* shutouts on the year... not that that's difficult when your team is regularly holding the opposition to <20 shots per game. Giants also finished this season with a franchise-high 106 points... which would be outstanding for any NHL team... then you realize they only play a 72-game schedule!

Kinda blurry but still nice to look at:
