Hiogher aperature and eyes damnit!

ramir 12-17-2006 10:35 AM

well if i shoot with a higher aperture then i won't get that much DOF now wouldn't i??? especially if i'm just shooting the face...

any back focusing issues? try some tests on the lens (or was it the camera?)

ramir 12-17-2006 12:00 PM

i used a fixed lens, 28mm f2.8

but yeah i find that the focusing "twitches" when i am about to take the pic.

lowside67 12-17-2006 12:03 PM

What AF settings are you using?

It might just be me, but I'm pretty sure that last closeup her eyes still arent focused properly!

ramir 12-17-2006 12:05 PM

i was shooting on f2.8

and as i said the lens was "twitching" with the focusing right before i take the pic... probably that's it. i'll try and be more careful next time with that

dub.dub 12-17-2006 12:32 PM

are other lenses ok or just that one?

ramir 12-17-2006 12:33 PM

yeah i think my kit lens is fine, its just that one. and my telephoto has no issues also i think... not really sure. haha coz i was shooting this at a very fast pace i think i actually was too close to the subject lol...

lowside67 12-17-2006 01:13 PM

Check what AF mode you're on. AI Servo would do that "twitching" behaviour, while AI Focus or One Shot would not (assuming you're using Canon)

ramir 12-17-2006 07:45 PM

its on AI focus

Meowjin 12-17-2006 09:17 PM

how tight is your space. using a wide angle like that will cause distortion and make her head look more bulbouse. Try shooting 85mm or above. Just a tip though

ramir 12-18-2006 01:34 AM

i use a 28mm with a 1.6 crop so that's roughly 45mm

i am planning on buying another lens when i get the money but yeah just don't wanna use my kit lens right now

the second pic is pretty cool as an abstract, the first does nothing for me...

Gopher 12-19-2006 06:41 PM

I'm the exact opposite, I love the first shot, and could see it being used in some sort of music ad, whereas the second really does nothing for me...

hmm... to each their own

K-Dub 12-19-2006 08:55 PM

(excuse the line on the bottom, i'm lazy)

Critique and advice as to why Save As in Photoshop seemed to have upped the saturation a lot?
I do have everything on sRGB color profile (monitor, photoshop, camera) ..so I'm confused.
