Who here has a working copy of smash brothers brawl? If so, I'd love to play with them over wifi.

dub.g 02-21-2008 10:11 AM

^^ i do.. but i stop playing it after a week

i figured, i may hav to unlock all the stuff again once the english version comes out so i stop playing it to not spoil the game for me...

forgamez 02-22-2008 06:19 PM

I just got the Japanese version of Winning eleven for Wii.

Is there anything I need to do or watch out for when playing a Japanese Wii game on my NA Wii console?

dub.g 02-22-2008 06:58 PM

did you buy it or burnt a copy?

the problem with foreign games on north american consoles is that when a game asked for an update, it will download a japanese firmware on ur NA console......

this is harmful and can semi brick your console

if u burnt a copy and still have the iso file, use brick blocker program to fool the console with the japanese udate and also use regionfrii to change the region of ur iso file

ive been wanting to buy a wii but i dont know anything about modding it.

would it be better to buy a brand new wii and mod it or pick up a pre modded one?

woob 02-26-2008 03:35 PM

hey does anyone know if there are plans for a 2k or EA NHL release for the wii anytime in the future?

smash brothers on sunday!!! whos got theirs preordered?!!

PNF 03-03-2008 09:30 AM

I am waiting to see how others respond on the smash bros first.

looks good.

i am waiting for mario kart!!

:D

then again, I havent played Wii for awhile now..

Hondaracer 03-03-2008 12:17 PM

u guys think your gonna need to preorder brawl in order to get a copy?

dub.g 03-03-2008 12:22 PM

it depends, EB overhypes everything they got, games that u can only get pre ordered, will be available to buy in some stores like FS/BB

but that depends on FS/BB stock as well... on how much they got, was Mario Galaxy sold out when it came out?

because Smash Bros Brawl seems to be getting more hype

i got the japanese version a month ago, and IMO, i say its worth it because i am actually considering of buying it rather than downloading it

but which ever comes first, apparently someone is about to upload the DVD9 north american version in torrents tonight, so i might just download it.. but yes, if im lucky and manage to get some retail copy, definitely buying it on the spot..

Hondaracer 03-03-2008 02:33 PM

hmm gonna have to wake up early on sunday then i guess

also, im gonna have to by nunchucks for the other controllers now im asuming?

dub.g 03-03-2008 02:44 PM

you can play SSBB with just the wiimote, you hold it sideways like an old school 2d mario game, kinda like Paper Mario

alot of reviews prefer that simple method control

but im used to moving around in the game with analog stick, plus i find it awkward to press the B button when blocking when holding the wiimote sideways..

vapour_lock 03-03-2008 03:05 PM

you can also use classic controller+wiimote or gamecube controller

Hondaracer 03-03-2008 11:43 PM

hmm interesting..

do you guys all have nunchucks for your controllers? i have 4 controllers but only 1 nunchuck :S

maybe ill buy like 2 more or somthing and i already have a classic

LsquareD 03-08-2008 06:16 PM

I got my preorder at Brentwood's EB.. is it possible to pick it up at Metrotown's EB?

Unid5ntified 03-08-2008 09:35 PM

bestbuy on cambie had a bunch of nunchucks, their not really hard to get a hold of.

lilaznviper 03-08-2008 11:11 PM

i got my pre order from brentwood EB and they called me today that i will be getting my copy for sure....

dman the controllers cost too much :(
almost 100 bucks for a set

dub.g 03-09-2008 12:14 AM

just a warning

for those with a wiikey modchip on ur consoles, a legit original game of SSBB will not work due to the wiikey chip need a new firmware update to be compatible with newer games

but because of the wiikey team being MIA, its not sure when they will or if they will release a new update..

im actually eager to buy this game, but i may have to settle with getting a dumped version..

no, preorders are store specific, i tried that last time, but its possible they changed their policy however, i doubt it

the dumped one isnt out yet is it...? i couldn't find an english one.

i want to buy it too i just didn't feel like preordering lol.

trip 03-09-2008 11:18 AM

i just bought a brand new wii and i am gonna get it modded next week. i won't be able to play a backup SSBB ?

dub.g 03-09-2008 01:08 PM

just keep a close attention to this site

http://psx-scene.com/wii/portal.php

many ppl who actually preferred to buy the game, only to find out that the Wiikey installed, it makes it incompatible to play the game

also some mod chips also are not working with real copies of SSBB

so they resorting to extracting and dumping their real copies and burning it on a dual layer disc for it to only work.... so thats why a warning to those with modded wiis, burnt copies are the only way to go at the moment..

also the dual layer SSBB version caps at 7.92 gigs, so look for the isos with that, dont download the 4.12 gig version, they are single layer dumps with the fmvs taken out, making some part of the game totally inaccessible..

but ya, a dumped version of the NTSC hasnt been released yet, the ones that says Super Smash Bros Brawl NTSC version 4.12 gigs are actually Super Mario Strikers isos..... so dont waste ur bandwidth...

Unid5ntified 03-09-2008 01:45 PM

I bought brawl today and its working fine with my openwii.
Just need to update it to 2.4 and its should work.
