haha that's really too bad.

While the Chinese and Russian movements aren't anything to write home about, there's still something neat about the history of their watchmaking requirements, and it has to do with the notion/idea of Communism in both countries. I'll have to give it to them in that their movements are reliable (but accuracy is a different question hahaha)

Well, technically that movement is swiss designed... It's the Chinese QC that really holds it back :P

I bought it because of this article. It’s a pretty neat watch with at least some historic and horological significance.

Not sure. I bought it from the aliexpress official
Seagull store. The movement for sure is the st19 so that’s good. I compared my
Movement to the long island YouTube video and it’s exactly 1 for 1. I sincerely doubt they’ll bother faking a Chinese watch. There just isn’t much demand for this kind of stuff

Little something I've wanted for a while...but was JDM only and didn't want to risk e-bay (and pay a premium).

Ran into it in by chance during a 3 day trip to Japan, picked it up - duty free!

How does it feel on the wrist? Is it what you'd expect the watch to wear? Give us your initial impressions

havent spent too much time with it yet. Its very light and very thin. Much thinner than i thought. Compared to the omega's I usually wear, it feels very dressy.

That sunburst dial is amazing. It looks dark, almost black at night and then navy blue in the sun and sometimes gray when its overcast. Im not sure how to describe it other than its pretty unique. Also, the bracelet is super well crafted and feels extremely comfortable. You don't notice the watch when you wear it.

Im just not really sure when I should wear this. I mean 99% of the population wont know what it is, so I should probably relax but it seems pretentious wearing this to the office or any social event that isn't a formal event.

Love the collection, small watches FTW although I don't know any of the models except the Seiko which I own.

where did you get the leather straps for the Seiko?

This particular strap I bought from Walmart. I think it was 10 dollars and it's genuine leather. 18mm size fits that Seiko perfectly.

Was bored so I wore my 5711 it to work and took these on wrist shots.

I’ve never had a sports watch at 8.4mm in height. It’s super thin. Don’t feel it at all on your wrist.

anyone have any recommendations for lume repair on watch hands? picked up a new project watch with cracked lume on the watch hands. not cheap enough of a watch to attempt myself but not expensive enough to take it to an AD or even Nobert.

do you have to strip the old lume off before repainting or can you just paint on top of it ? If you have to strip it, it might be cheaper and easier just to buy new hands.

I remember looking into reluming a while ago. I remember it was harder to find someone to do it than you would expect. When I was looking neither Norbert or OF would do it. I ended up sending it to LAWW. There's a watchmaker Ashton Tracey who is on a couple of watch forums. But I can't attest to his work.

My ching chong Ling long seagull's chronograph broke already (yes Chinese quality control is horseshit). I got almost all my money back from AliExpress (ended up only paying 34 dollars) but now I need a decent watchmaker who knows how to fix an venus175/ST19 movement. Looks like the clutch spring is too weak to reset the chronograph...

Any recommendations ?

Planet Ocean and Aquaracer are part of my collection.

I also have a few fakes I acquired on my trip to China for shits and giggles. The quality is definitely laughable.

love that planet ocean + nato combo. Im not sure why the rolex sub is so coveted when this omega planet ocean is a much much better watch overall.

Went to see the downtown Rolex AD for shits and giggles on my lunch break. That myth that there isn’t any Daytona’s or subs available is complete bullshit. They had 3 Daytona’s and 2 subs available. Not being a Rolex guy I wasn’t too too keen but I sort of want the pearl dial Daytona.
