whats the diff between the 60 and 80 gig? nothing right except for the hard drive and that the 80 gig gives motor storm?

The 80GB does not have PS2 hardware built-in, so if you plan on playing your PS2 games with it, many will not work. See here for more details:

Sony will go in the same way Microsoft did with the 360 and use a backward compatibility emulation....

so instead of ps2 games running on actual ps2 hardware on the ps3, it will emulate it instead.. theres hardly any difference.. in terms of visual and performance, although games will be glitchy and will just be improve and fix through firmware....

i like my 60gb :) i can always swap the hd out if i need a bigger and use the 60 as an external so no biggie on the size of the hd

Damn, my PS3 suddenly doesn't show the disc icon in the menu!! I can't play any games or other discs!!! The hard drive games and everything is fine tho...
Is this a common problem?? I've only had the machine for about a month!

I have also never heard of this problem but it seems to me your bluray player is fried.

I will honestly say I have no idea what the problem is but have you tried using one of those "lens cleaner" discs? The same ones you'd use for a CD player.

Also, after you load the disc does it make the normal whurring noises?

I'd contact Sony if I were you. Hopefully they'll send you a trouble shoot that you can also post up for us.

Oh, one last thing you can try, official Sony PS3 forum. Some of those guys helped me out a lot when my PS3 disliked the new firmware update.

i tried the demo for NBA 08 from sony
it was absolutely crap


GAmespot gave 5/10

IGN gave 7.5/10

Metacritic doesn't do their own personal ratings, it gathers all the popular review websites *IGN, gamespy, ect* and averages it all out. Every big company uses metacritic to get an average of their own production and their competitions.

picked up EA's 08 NBA

its not bad....but during gameplay the graphics looks kind of....not that great?? during replays and other scene the character looks amazing, just kind of wish they smooth out the gameplay a bit more since each player moves kind of like a robot..

Ratchet looks to be the first good exclusive PS3 game... Until Uncharted comes out (we hope)

yea i might just buy it new. best buy has it for $49.99 right now. Juiced 2 looks like a rental for sure. I played the demo, didn't really like it.

Resistance never really clicked for me.. although i got it as a launch title last december with my ps3

i was planning on picking up Stranglehold for ps3 because it suppose to come with Hardboiled on blu ray


and then i find out that the movie is not coming to Canada because of rating problems...

ill pick it up on the states instead...
