Tried the nhl 11 demo. The players skate very sluggish and its hard to hit now. I also noticed that doing a 1 timer is almost near impossible. I'm not impressed.... EDIT: They changed the passing system so you have to hold down the button instead of pressing it. Why they change this?, no freekin clue. It was fine the way it was. This is big for us players like that to come down and do tick tack toe plays, that shit is pretty much gone now |
contemplating pre-ordering gt5 collectors and little big planet 2 collectors. I'm a consumer whore :( |
|
LEGIT! Too many different sources for it to be a fake. |
yup it's legit. not spending $150 yet, devs on sites like ps3news say that a usb image of the usb dongle will be replicated very soon |

GT5 on the other hand, i already sunk $45 when the glorified demo came out 2 years back...i dont think i'll go for the extra items. Quote:

couldnt sony just issue another mandatory firmware update that nullifies it? id rather wait and see before i fork out $150 (and so far they're all showing games with demos although im not sure if that matters if they were the demos) |
won't work on regular store bought ps3s, said to be only for debugging units |
^ That doesn't make sense, debugging units can run unassigned codes out of box, no crack needed. |

Sometimes i rarely touch my ps3, makes me wondering if i should of bought it or not, but playing new games is great.. |
at best the guy managed to get (ie steal) a debugging PS3 from the looks of it, but from what his videos show I haven't seen anything that couldn't have been very easily faked. its a good point made above that these are all games that have demos, and very little gameplay or anything else is shown. also in the first video, the bottom of the screen (with the X and triangle) is cut off, and the screen flicker looks off (it's parallel to the camera, not the screen). In the third video the triangle has been changed to O for some reason? so until I get some kind of explanation of how it works, I call fake. also geohotz managed to access some PS3 code, but last I saw he had no clue what any of it meant and couldn't actually do anything with it. so all he'd managed to do was connect to a chip and dump it's contents (whoop de doo) edit: this vid claims to have a download of the files that you can burn to any USB device. someone wanna test it? edit2: I just checked out the page you can buy these from, it's covered in typo's and these guys claim that this thing just randomly showed up from Hong Kong, and now somehow they've got a ton to ship out? |
Here's another video showing the jailbreak: |
so i saw a couple more videos... and it looks like what they're saying is that this just allows you to install the game into the harddrive and play it from there like how developers get to... but you'll need the original disc to install.. so you cant download games ? i dunno still seems rather shady/iffy at this time |

did you see the GT5 Signature edition? gives you an entry into a competition where the winner gets a Mercedes SLS AMG!! only open to Euro and Middle Eastern users though |

^ but then you can already get unlimited games... $150 for the "hack" + you need to at least rent or borrow the games + potential $300 if your console gets bricked or banned... not worth it. albeit if you can rip the games to an external drive, depending on what the files are like you might be able to transfer them to the computer and move them around. one other thing I've noticed though, why do most of the discs that are shown have that gray strip around most of the edge of the label? my games don't have that. also, they've stated you can rip the games to either the internal or an external drive. I haven't seen any full videos of a game being ripped, so where do you choose where it goes? |
The usb is a replication of the usb that ps3 engineers use in the sony factory to repair and test bricked consoles, which allows unsigned code to be run on the machine before the firmware boots. The usb essentially turns any ps3 into a debug unit. U can download gamedumps and run them from a ext hd but downloading 40gb = gg lol Posted via RS Mobile |

according to the fs site, most of the games are under 4GB? which doesn't sound quite right to me. I'd also like to see this thing running a "backed up" game online. Tho chances are Sony could kill this with the next firmware update real easily. |
very few games even come close to filling up a blu-ray. i know rock band green day is only about 4gb. most of the data used in games is just dummy data to speed up the loading of the game since the ps3's drive is much slower than the 360's drive. i don't know why people think it's fake. eurogamer and TONS of places have already confirmed that it works. the $150 price is smart because this thing is sure to get reverse-engineered and mass produced as soon as a chinese manufacturer gets a hold of it. |
