so if the playstation network doesnt come back up you'll buy an xbox and mod it so you cant play online? why not just play your ps3 games offline?

dub.g 05-09-2011 07:07 AM

time to go on vacay ppl, looks like a possibility on no psn until may 31st, unless they actually say "some services will be back online before that"

Quote:

While Sony works to restore components of PlayStation Network and its Qriocity music service, a Tokyo-based representative of the company projects that both will be fully restored by the end of May. Speaking to Bloomberg, Shigenori Yushida stated that a complete reboot of Sony's online suite would be initiated by May 31. What exactly comes on before then remains to be seen.

Sony aimed to re-launch some services (including Home, chat functionality and friends lists) during last week, but delayed its plans in order to finalize testing of what it claims is a reconstructed and more secure network. For the time being, Sony will likely focus on getting new PS3 firmware out to allow users to update their usernames and passwords, and restoring online gaming, which has been deactivated since April 20.

Since then, PS3 versions of big releases like Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat have been locked out of online play. To make the timing especially awkward, Splash Damage's multiplayer-focused shooter, Brink, is making its debut this week.

okay this is getting a little frustrating
i dont mind if they take a week to confirm that indeed they were hacked, but if you are going to promise to have limited service back-up within a week...stick to your words. I'm all for it's just free online gaming and people shouldn't bitch and should go about doing other activities..but i wasn't able to really login a good week or two before this whole fiasco so i've been shut out for almost a month now.

delSol97 05-09-2011 12:51 PM

I wanna play some #@$%in Warhawk.

geezus

van19 05-09-2011 03:56 PM

Heres another article

Updated: Whilst May 31 is the date that Sony aims to return full functionality to the PSN service, including the PSN Store, according to the PlayStation Blog the company aims to restore online gameplay before that date.

The PlayStation Network has been down since April 20. Despite claims from Sony that the service would be partially operational by now, it isn't and could be for some time, if a report in Bloomberg is correct.

"Sony is uncertain when it can resume the services," Tokyo-based Sony spokesperson Shigenori Yoshida is quoted as saying in the report. "The company is in the process of adopting an improved security system and its plan to restart the services fully by May 31 is unchanged."

Sony's most recent update on the Playstation Blog said that the PSN was currently in the "final stages of internal testing." But if the new date of May 31 is to be believed, PSN users will have been wandering without online gaming for 40 days and 40 nights upon its return.
