Does anyone know if the road to cypress is still closed at night? Any other good roads near downtown at night? |
Marine Dr in West Vancouver. But you cannot go fast as it is quite dark and lots of blind turns around the slope. Also if you're willing to go up Cypress you might as well go Porteau Cove. It's about 20 minutes away from Cypress. |
iirc the road to cypress closes at 11 in the winter, and is open all night in the summer |
thanks! |
South Through the Switchback North Of Whistler |
which road was this? |
About 15 Km North of Whistler............ |
I like how that sienna was right up there with the lambos :lawl: |
Rather takes away from the elusion of speed, eh..... There was about 15 Lambos spread out across about 20 minutes. A local we spoke to in Pemberton said they had been running back and forth on the roads North of Pemberton. We later found them all parked at the Four Seasons at Whistler........sitting outside in the dark with no security.....only in Canada, eh? We were running an about 2.5 count behind the Lambouis, but the go-pro makes the distance seem further. It was not intentional but we somehow got in between the final four. Quite a thrill, but we must have looked like an ugly duckling, if that is possible, considering the company. Attachment 26017 |

I think riding up to whistler is beautiful..lol |
I once did a whole circuit from vancouver to whistler, to pemberton, to lilooet and then back to hope and then to vancouver.. great roads for driving a tad quicker and good for cruising. great views and awesome spots to stop and take pics. summer time is best. but fall isn't as bad. |
Do we have any roads like this? |

Does anyone recall the scenic driving loop discussed on RS awhile back? You start in Vancouver and go up past whistler and come down thru the interior of BC -- sorry I can't be more specific but it's supposed to be around an 8 hour drive? |

I used this thread's ideas and looked in surrounding areas for routes. I haven't been on any of the "Untested" routes, I used google maps to route out interesting roads. The Stanley -> Porteau via Marine Dr is a great run. Marine Dr. is tight tho. Stanley Park -> Lighthouse Park (Optional) -> Whytecliff Park -> Porteau Cove (Tested) 45km: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/vi...gGEeqF0owummY4 Highway Loop 50km (Untested) https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/vi...FMlfDV_SzQcmYE Belcarra Day Trip 20km (Tested) https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/vi...lA1a8LPupoSLak Mission Run 2.0: ~38.5KM (Untested) https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/vi...ZqKki5K_5TM03M Whytecliff ONLY 15km (Tested) https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/vi...SmxrM2e9-JUdWU |
When coming back into the lower mainland from the canyon/coquihalla, take Lougheed on the north bank of the river from Hope to Agassiz. This bypasses the weekend traffic bottleneck and some popular speed traps. It's also prettier, includes a short twisty bit over a mountain shoulder, and features one of the longest and most isolated straights in the valley. PSL is 100 iirc. After Agassiz stick to the 1 if you're trying to make time. (first post) |

Around Mt Seymour Rd close to around cliffroad Dr there is lots of small roads in the trees and it looks like Stanley park but way more intense roads. Lots of corners and ups and downs. Super fun in E30 or Miata. |
I got a few local ones. You cant go really fast (unless your brave) but the roads are pretty. The last one especially. It feels like a rally stage. http://imgpost.me/img/E0hzrs4/1.JPG http://imgpost.me/img/3B2lmsN/2.JPG http://imgpost.me/img/NQVGY3e/3.JPG http://imgpost.me/img/TEb31y7/4.JPG |
Found a great site that has a comprehensive listing of winding routes in Ontario - for those interested: driveslate.com/routes Amazingly, it also has great routes in BC ! |
Road to Kelowna (or Vernon if you're willing to go further) is beautiful! |
