you can't mod a 250GB drive to use for a 360 yet, since the key from the original 250GB drives has not been extracted yet. I assume the key would be available in the next few days when people get their hands on the new 250GB drive from MS

I got a 20GB drive, formatted it and updated the console and it has 11.3GB free, previous one had 13.7 left. that's just silly.

2GB is reserved for backward compatibility and 4GB is for caching

Total XBox newb, need some advice.

Looking to buy a 360 for my son's bday. I just need a basic setup. He won't be playing online, just for him and when friends come over.

What should I be looking for and where should I buy that will service if problems arise?

This is a reply for both people I don't know who to multi quote.
To flip tuner I would say to buy ur xbox and just get the extended warranty from futureshop or bestbuy which ever place is selling the xbox pro with a better bundle unless there the same, if ur not looking for good warrenty I'd say just go to costco depending on the bundle there (the only thing is the bundle is a lot more money bc u get a lot more out of it) I got mine during the holidays when they had a good bundle but it's like 300-400 can't remember the price but the warranty is just 1 year through Microsoft. I'd say just get the 360 pro bc u get a hardrive with it if ur kid plays alot of games he'll be screwed without a hardrive, u do have the option of getting it later so it's up to u, I'd say get the elite if u don't mind putting down a bit more money for a better built system with more memory I think 120g correct me if I'm wrong. Another good thing is the extra warranty through future/ best is that it covers basically everything controller, system, power surges, there's a list. Hopefully that was helpful good luck.

To art, I'd say that's a pretty good deal, unless u think ur friends system hasn't been kept well then maybe get him to lower the $

from my experiences you can get a xbox,20gb hd ,2 controllers and a few games for around 200$ so i guess it really depends on the games.


my only suggestion for buying a used xbox 360.

all xbox comes with 1 year warranty from the date of purchase

you get 3 year warranty if it red rings ( known problem)


you dont need a receipt for warranty.

just call 1800-4-my-xbox and give them the serial at the back of the xbox.

i have had my 360 red ring of me 3 times in 3 years lol finally updated to a xbox elite and that has RROD on me once as well
