thanks for the advice  |
Hey all, my gf just got me an Xbox 360 arcade version for my birthday and she got it modded before giving it to me. I never expected it, I don't really play console games but no big deal, still a good gift. Question is, I read that they are cracking down on modded Xboxs, is it easy for them to find out? If I play online, what will happen? Does it only apply to cracked games, or to even games that are legit and they can still find out my xbox is modded. Another thing is, what if I do those xbox live updates, will that remove the mod such as like jailbreaking an Iphone and then doing an update removes the jailbreak. Sorry, I am a total noob and don't know much about xbox. Thanks! |

So after that I switched to a 100% legit Xbox 360 and buy/rent only original games (obviously). But to answer your question, I believe the best way Microsoft cracks down modded consoles is when you play an online game that has not been released yet. Some stores that make a business out of selling burnt games somehow get early copies of games that have yet been released. I personally have a close friend who played a burnt game that hasn't been released yet, so Microsoft banned his console from ever accessing Live again. You can still use your console and easily get online updates. It's almost impossible for Microsoft (though I'm no expert) to detect a mod chip just by downloading console or game updates. Based on my own personal experience, you can even play online multiplayer (then again, the last time I've played online multiplayer with a modified console was more than three years ago. Hehe) Just make sure that game is already commonly played online. Haha Hope that helps! Cheers! |
Currently looking to purchase a 360 this summer. Should I get the new one or would the elite be a better buy with the price drop and all. Or would PS3 be a better buy? |
the 'new' one is the best value imo, simply because it has the wireless built in. But, if you don't need it, then I would just go with the elite because of the price drop. |
Is EB doing any promotions where you can trade in your old 360 for the new one? |

The new 250GB slim one looks so damn sexy! Makes my 60GB Pro console look like garbage. *sigh* |
i bought a used Xbox 360 off CL last week, probably the worst time to get it lol. The next day Microsoft announces new Xbox and a price drop on exisiting models at E3. fml might consider trading in the old console for a new one at EB games... |
Hows the modding community like for the current 360s? Original one (bought few weeks after launch) red ringed about 1.5 years ago so I've been on the PS3 ever since. Crackdown 2 is coming out and looking to get back into it. |
mw2 is getting ridiculous for modders so many ppl have the wall hacks n shit pretty gay but just put cold blooded on and they cant see you =] most the modders suck anyways |
I meant in terms of flashing the firmware :mamoru: |
rrod is actually easier to get fixed than you think. i got mine done quite reasonably. |

Iam tempted to get the new 360 to put along with my old one as well. But if I do that I will need to buy a new entertainment center to store all my consoles in one place. |

I get a new one just for the hope they revised RROD issues. I mean I don't even play the 360 often and still RRODs and this was one of the later ones too! |

I went to an EB here, and they offered me $25 for my console, $15 for a controller, $25 for the Wireless N Adapter, $25 for my 250gb HDD. What a joke. I should just hit up a Gamestop in the states and trade it in. I don't mind coughing up $100 dollars and trading my system in for a new one. |
