I change my mind, that place is only known to be good for its spring rolls.
A better place is le do on hastings near nainamo.

It's scary how clean this place is.

Why is it scary? Most Pho spots have floors as sticky as porn theaters. Only difference the Pho spot won't bother mopping it down with bleach for the next day.

So I went to Pho Vinh the other day. Their food was actually very good! Oh, and they have THE BEST Vietnamese coffee in town. :)

Glad you enjoyed it.

What did you end up grabbing there?

Thanks to their coffee.. i'm still awake at this time. It's so damn strong, but sooooooo good ahaha :D

miss_crayon 04-01-2009 02:16 AM

there's going to be a new pho joint on hastings next to sushi town opening up. it's gonna be called pho 101 or something? looks pretty modern from the outside.

I just got their house special beef noodle soup. It was really good. Soup was clear and there was a nice emphasis on the cilantro and onions. I'm assuming it's northern Vietnamese style?

Service was excellent and the people there were super friendly! :)

Armind 04-01-2009 02:03 PM

^ Hmm i'm sure the owner is nam, so i'm assuming it southern Vietnamese style? Not too sure, you could be right but meh.. their pho is yummy that's all that matters :P

bcrdukes 04-01-2009 02:12 PM

I've noticed a lot of northen Vietnamese people speak Cantonese (fluently too) and have the whole Confucian setup. Also, their broth is clearer from what I've noticed compared to say, southern Vietnamese style which is darker and heavier.

Armind 04-01-2009 02:21 PM

I never knew that o.o

bcrdukes 04-01-2009 02:30 PM

This is just an assumption through observation. I'm not Vietnamese so maybe somebody of ethnicity can chime in.

Armind 04-01-2009 03:10 PM

Ohh. Oh yeah! During the time when I spoke with the owner, he said he was the previous KIM HOANG restaurant owner a few years back. No wonder that place has went down hill. Happy that he's back into the restaurant business after a few years :)
