CODA - 9.5/10

Amazingly unique and uplifting movie. Well deserved Oscar.

SkinnyPupp 05-05-2022 03:21 AM

Dr. Strange 2 8/10

Excellent Marvel movie. It took a while to hook me in (the beginning had me wondering if I would regret watching) but once it did, holy fuck. This movie goes to some crazy places, and if you're going to do a bunch of visual FX stuff, they better be good, and creative, and this definitely was. Also it was Sam Raimi as fuck.

Highly recommended... People who like these movies will see it anyway, but IMO if you've been bored of the last few, this might be worth the trip. Better than Spiderman which was a neat nostalgic gimmick and cool, but not bat shit like this.

SkinnyPupp 05-05-2022 03:24 AM

Also watched THE BATMAN and it was fine. 6/10 maybe... They did a good job with Gotham, but.. well it's Gotham and Gotham sucks. Richard Pattinson is probably actually my favourite portrayal of Batman besides Chrisitan Bale. Gordon was great, Colin Farrell as The Penguin was totally unrecognizable, he was amazing. And Zoe Kravitz... Meow...

Doctor strange 2 was very meh... felt like i was watching WandaVision again with her worried about the pretend family... 5/10.

no fucking clue why they would re-run that story again.

SkinnyPupp 05-09-2022 12:52 AM

Seeing a lot of mixed reactions to Dr. Strange 2

All I can say is I liked it more than most Marvel movies. The people who hated it probably like all the Avengers movies that I find tedious... I'm glad there's some variety now!

sonick 05-09-2022 08:39 AM

The Batman 8/10

Solid movie, didn't feel as long as it was. Good detective thriller with action.

Marvel movies are done fam, this current phase has been awful. All these B-League heroes that no one cares about :lol

I even thought the new Spider Man was pretty meh, that new Thor doesn't look awe-inspiring either.

Until they come out with a new X-Men, I think I'm good.

StylinRed 05-12-2022 11:08 PM

I thought doctor strange 2 was good! Solid 7.5/10 bump it up to an 8 even

I was just disappointed that it wasn't what I hoped.
Not so much a spoiler but spoilerd anyhow

Spoiler!

SkinnyPupp 05-13-2022 07:19 AM

^^^ That seems to be what they're teasing at least. I think it'll happen

StylinRed 05-14-2022 12:05 AM

Think a lot of these movies were originally planned to be released much earlier, but all got delayed due to pandemic theatre shutdowns...

Certainly seems to be that they're hinting towards it. We're in that painful phase again where each movie is still stand-alone with only small threads connected to one another. Waiting for the Avengers movie V2 where they finally bring the new gang together

Mr.Money 05-16-2022 04:39 PM

yeah i got snaked in Variant's from another universe were gonna fuck shit up and try match the spiderman's latest film

Top Gun 5/10

It was absolutely what I expected it to be, not even 1% different. Not any better, not any worse - exactly as expected.

Best of all, all the action scenes are all done with practical effects, not shitty CGI. You get actual things moving around on camera, people breathing heavy, faces getting all squished under heavy G force, stuff like that. Going from Dr Strange 2 to this was like traveling through time, in many ways. Movies are SO MUCH BETTER without shit CGI. I wish it would just fucking go away.

If you watch it, make sure to see it in an Atmos theatre if you can, the sound is amazing

Don't read anything about it! Go in totally blind

I rewatched the original Top Gun with my 16 year old son in anticipation of the new one. Nostalgia is a hell of a thing because that movie is complete dogshit and not how I remember it at all, lol.

68style 05-26-2022 01:11 PM

^ I was just saying this to someone 2 days ago and they were like "KEEP MY FAVOURITE MOVIE OUT YO FUCKIN MOUTH" hahahaha

Actually that makes me realize that the best way to describe the new one is to say it's the movie you remember Top Gun being. All the cool flying scenes and all that is probably what most people remember, along with some moments of melodrama.. In the new one, the melodrama is there but I'd say it's less of a focus of the movie.

In a way, it's a "reboot done right". Some creators get this right (Cobra Kai is another example of this, and Kevin Smith's He-man series) and some get it wrong (most of the live action or CGI Disney remakes I'd put here... they do the exact opposite)

The same director is doing a Twister remake, so I have high hopes for that as it was one of my favourite bad 90's movies ever, and I watched it a lot on DVD.

Hondaracer 05-26-2022 07:58 PM

Lol in my head I thought twister was good. Wife and I watched it and dear god.. what a shit movie lol the plot is all over the place lol

Gumby 05-27-2022 12:22 AM

Just came back from Top Gun: Maverick. Yes, there are some unbelievable moments (it’s a movie after all), but I really enjoyed it. Totally agree that it was a “reboot done right”.

I watched it in IMAX and the aerial shots were just mind blowing. Might watch it again but in Dbox…

Uncharted [2022] - 4/10

If you're not a fan of the games it's probably a half decent watch if you like the genre. I am a fan of the games and the casting was pretty painful, the plot was ehhh and they spent way too much time on characters that don't even matter. It would've been far better if they made a short TV series with Nathan Fillion.

Spoiler!

Mr.Money 05-27-2022 02:02 PM

What did you guys think of Obi Won tv series?.
