Why does it get such low reviews?

Is it being vote bombed for some SJW stuff or something?

Solid movie not deserve of the 50% RT score.

watched this. A solid cast but holy F were there a lot of loop holes. What really got me was how a 15 yr retired solder who is now a cilivan all of a sudden savse the earth.

Every army is useless and somehow only the power of 5 people can or maybe can save the world.

Majority of the scenes were similar to rambo + human fighting with creatures the size of a big bear that's super agile.

The premise is good, would have made some money in the theatres, but the script of a father which will be a world hero will jsut save the day some how was not good in my books.
6.5 to 7 /10 at best.

Also not sure if it's just me re: The Tomorrow War, but I am playing through Gears of War 4 right now and the resemblance of the action scenes, set pieces, and and monster designs in general seem like it was pulled right out of a video game.

meh. Didn't think it was epic at all. They did a decent job trying to have a script. I just didn't resonate at all with it. The family middle part was boring as F.

I can't think of anything super good to say.... glad to see its a marvel movie I guess.

5/10 meh.

for those who are movie buff, you will rememer Florence Pugh in Midsommar

Bender Unit 07-10-2021 01:24 AM

Black Widow …. 5or6

The story is not interesting.
It should just be one of Disney+ show.

LOKI is way better

Because it's movie with way to many holes makes no sense.

MarkyMark 07-10-2021 07:08 PM

Tomorrow War I'd give about a 6.5 or 7. Definitely some questionable moments but I was pretty entertained throughout.

These 2/10 reviews I've seen seem pretty over the top and I'm glad I don't base what movies I watch solely on review scores.

6793026 07-10-2021 09:02 PM

Well Matt Damon's new movie StillWater got like a 5 min standing ovation giving him tears in some film festival (Cannes?); and online reviews bashed him like crazy....

I think somewhere between them is the true rating lol. The 5 minute ovation circle jerk after a movie is super cringe. Like fuck off no one cured cancer here it's a movie.

On the other side is the woke millennial review where it's either a 10/10 or a 2/10 because if they didn't like it no one should like it either. You're allowed to not like a movie and call it a 5/10, it doesn't have to be the worst movie of all time.

In my opinion a true 2/10 review would mean the movie is so fucking bad I can't see any possible way anyone would want to waste their time watching that movie. The Tomorrow War does not fit that criteria IMO.

Black Widow: 7/10

An Avengers origin story that has its moments. Overall, the plot is boring. -good action, some humorous dialogue, in the movie.

So true, I've always taken ratings the same way it's applied with grades in school? You say a chick is a 5? Well ok it means she's a C- meaning yea she she ain't really hot or cute but she ain't ugly either. Same for a movie, meh it wasn't great had some moments didn't really like it much but a 5.

SkinnyPupp 07-17-2021 06:35 PM

Black Widow 4/10

That sure was a Marvel movie.

AzNightmare 07-18-2021 12:59 AM

F9

Maybe 6/10. Kind of disappointing tbh. But I still liked it better than F8.
I think the franchise is starting to run out of ideas though. The overall plot has become quite messy just because they want to tie everything together, but the afterthought planning is blatantly showing. With new characters being written in and trying to explain how they tie into the story, and it doesn't help when dead characters mysteriously don't actually die and they have to try to explain it.

A quiet place part 2: 7/10

Not bad, not as original or creative compared to the first. Still enjoyable, but had more than a few cheap 'jump' scare scenes.

importantLS 07-20-2021 08:34 AM

Haha just make a Tokyo Drift 2 please

68style 07-20-2021 02:12 PM

^ Saw Sung Kang interviewing Lucas Black the other day kind of catching up and reminiscing... lol... he looks like he'd be down for sure! It's startling how old everyone has gotten, makes me feel fuckin awful hahaha

Space Jam: A New Legacy 7/10

My kids 8 & 4 years old enjoyed it very much

underscore 07-29-2021 11:25 AM

I prefer to watch movies knowing as little about the plot as possible, and I finally started watching a couple from my long list of movies I noted as being interested in. I'm 1 out of 3 for enjoying them though so maybe it's a bad system :lol

The Vault (2021) - 7/10
Nothing too crazy, but it's a decent heist movie. The acting was solid, Liam Cunningham was great as always (I loved him in Strike Back) and the plot kept things interesting even though it had a few bits that felt a bit odd that you kinda have to ignore.

Spoiler!

(Not to be confused with a bunch of other movies also called The Vault, apparently it's called Way Down in some markets)

Casino
(1995)
I'm not entirely sure what the point of the story is supposed to be, I made it 40 mins in, noticed it was a 3 hour movie and gave up. It was mostly just narrating, and while I like Joe Pesci he's not really a narrator. I won't rate it but at least I was able to notice early-ish on that it wasn't my kind of film.

Joker (2019) - 2/10
Joaquin Phoenix's acting was good, but that was about it. I had been told it was a good insight into mental illness but either I'm not bright enough to get it, or it just wasn't. The beginning was depressing and not exactly informative unless you somehow don't know that people with mental health issues aren't supported as much as they need to be. The rest was weird and seemed more to just aim to make people more scared of the mentally ill. I also hate films that drop a mystery with multiple possibilities and then never truly answer it. "oOoOoOo it's psychological and the audience has to guess." No it isn't, it's just lazy writing, tell the story or fuck off and don't bother starting it.

Spoiler!

The Town (2010) - 7/10
It was a solid movie, not entirely what I expected but in a good way. Jeremy Renner was fantastic, this is probably my favourite role of his. The ending was a bit predictable but still very enjoyable.

StylinRed 07-29-2021 11:57 AM

Avengers 9... I mean F9 :lol

They brought the ridiculousness up another level, and the cinematography seems to have taken a back seat, green screen use up the yahzoo!

5/10 think I'm being generous too, the dinner scene was nice

Lucas Black looks friggen ancient!!! I can't believe he's only 38!! He looks older than all the other guys who are in their mid 50s now!

German film, netflix paid money into making the movie i think? 90% in english

Was told it was good but holy F it was crap. 2 hrs was way too long. Had great potential if only they would decide on what direction to take.

Mother daughter line? Horror? Zombie? Kidnapping? Air Force One? pick one...

PS. great to see the older brother who was once from Prison Break. It's been a while.

Spoiler!

Operation Finale - 5/10

A few years old, has some pretty big stars (Oscar Isaac, Ben Kingsley), and interesting premise (it's about the hunt of a Nazi hiding out in Argentina), however the screenplay was a huge snoozefest.

I highly recommend you go back to it one day when you're in the mood for a long movie. This is one of my all time favourites.
