Just watched Mortal Kombat...
Maybe 6/10~

Based on the trailer, I'm fairly disappointed. Best part of the movie was the opening 7 mins tease which can be found online with Scropion vs Sub Zero fight.

The acting wasn't great, visual effects was alright, but definitely TV budget. But honestly the effects was the least of it's problems. Too many characters and not enough development. The pacing was overall very poor. Some of the fight scenes were good, but depending on the actors. You can tell which actors don't really have fighting experience.

anything else?...the new fucking MK theme was terrible, i wanted to hear it during the credits & was disappointed i didn't hear "MORTAL COMBATT!!!!!!"...but it was some dubstep bullshit mixed in.

Lol, that wasn't Liu Kang, that was Cole. Not a very likeable character, and I think he's an original character for this movie, he wasn't in the game. I don't know why they decided to make an original character, because he was boring and I didn't care. Throughout the entire movie, I thought he was going to be Liu Kang, until Liu Kang actually showed up. Then I was puzzled trying to figure out who the fk is this guy and why's he the main character? And he sucked, so I didn't want to root for him anyway.

It does say Mortal Kombat!!! but it takes a while to get there. You probably turned it off after 10 seconds of the dubstep. hahaha

He looked more like Raiden in Thor than this.

I can't believe that's the same actor. He looks a lot more intimidating with the beard. And the glowing eyes kind of looked goofy. Probably because the vfx was kind of amateurish.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa will be the best Shang Tsung. He has the perfect menacing face for it. The new actor just didn't seem to have the right look. He looked too "friendly". Even when he says the iconic line, "Your Soul is Mine", there was no weight behind it.

Spoiler!

Based on the trailer so far, I'd have to say Shang-Chi is shaping up to be a bit awkward. I am not trying to diss Simu Liu in any way, but Tony Leung as the Mandarin just has so much more presence in those clips from the trailer, and it makes me think that Leung is very much going to steal the show.

I am guessing Main Pole of the movie is introducing the "Real" Mandarin and his back story.
Shang-Chi probably a supporting cast.

Growing up watching a lot of HK movies, Tony Leung a VERY good actor. Perhaps even under-rated compared to the likes of Andy Lau.
I'm happy for Simu but don't think he can hold a candle to Tony and yes from the trailer he does look a bit awkward...
"Who are you? *POSE*" ... haha

Tony Leung is amazing, I'm glad Hollywood can finally see him in an English movie though he is already pretty well-known for Hero and Infernal Affairs.

That trailer is pretty funny, start off with some how we got to where we are............ pull at the heart strings with some close-ups of Chadwick... some cheers for Captain America cuz it is USA after all... then boom scenes from female lead movie, female lead movie, black lead movie, asian lead movie... and then by the way there's some sequels to the whiteboy franchises coming out too, but we'll only show titles for those ones.

Hollywood is just so ugh sometimes... even when they try to do the right thing, they kind of fail miserably at it lol

6793026 05-05-2021 12:02 AM

^ it's cause they didn't have clips of the 2023 production yet for the whiteboy stuff.

68style 05-05-2021 05:45 AM

I don’t even care, half those franchises suck and I’m away more excited about the ones they did show, I just hate how even when they try to be culturally sensitive it feels like a white executive just rubbing his palms together concocting what’s the best way to make money while appearing woke.

Bad trip 8/10

Thought it would be a dumb gross out shock prank movie like his TV show but turned out to be actually quite sweet and funny movie.

68style 05-09-2021 04:50 PM

The Mitchells vs The Machines (Netflix Movie) 7/10

Animated movie, has some pretty funny moments and not super kid themed, I enjoyed it, has a big guest appearance 2/3rd of the way through from a lovable 90's toy that had me pretty hyped up... probably could have been quite a bit shorter.

The dog and the 2 malfunctioning robots really make the movie.

6793026 05-10-2021 02:55 PM

^ wow rated pretty high on R tomatos

Mr.Money 05-26-2021 12:01 AM

Fast & Furious 9 leaked online yesterday but in cam verison....so expect going back to 2000's and watching 720p cams...

gonna see whats up.

Can't believe Amazon just bought MGM today!!! That's crazy.......... 2 lions have been around forever...

I watched a little German animated spinoff of Hansel & Gretel called "Secret Magic Control Agency", it was inoffensive and a nice little brother+sister learning to work together type thing. I thought it was fun, but not particularly memorable. 6/10.

Would be huge if they decided to release the new Bond on Amazon Prime.

Spoon 05-26-2021 08:07 AM

When you're worth 1.6T, 8.5B is like a drop in the bucket.

Mr.Money 05-26-2021 04:55 PM

7/10. Fast 9 .

only the ending saved it..
Spoiler!

A Bond series on Prime would be infinitely better than any movie they've released in decades

Wrath of Man
guy richie movie.. it wasn't bad...
it had it suspense, not too crazy with gore, the story was decent on unfolding. Ending of the heist was a good wrap up.

Again, not a bad action type movie. Jason S was a bit mono personality but oh well.
ANything to watch is better than nothing.
8/10

pastarocket 05-30-2021 08:45 PM

Without Remorse: 9/10.

Great movie adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel.

Michael B. Jordan does a good job of acting in this film. -good action scenes. -great storyline.

Wrath of man wasn't too bad. I'd give it a 7.5/10
Ritchie must have had QT influences as the movement between parts of the storyline totally reminded of Pulp Fiction one of my faves (and kill Bill)

Mr.Money 05-31-2021 04:43 PM

^^^ 6/10 from me

really no new idea's and all i felt like was if i wanted to watch was "Heat" if i wanted to see a heist movie,.

near the end i got fucking tired...ZzzZ

Mr.Money 06-01-2021 03:09 AM

Spiral From the Book of Saw

6/10.

its what you saw before but with A list actors involved, Chris Rock & Sam L Jackson.

right near the end it entirely tells it all and ends with an opening.

the very first saw film feels like a Classic to me so my rating is ruined.

6793026 06-06-2021 08:41 AM

F9

i don't even want to rate these movies anymore. Cool to see the cast back but some of the shit they are trying to pull are beyond science (no shit). Don't know how made the script this time but man, where are they going to do next time... pluto? land on Mars? send a car down into the ocean and turn it into a submarine?

Just turn off the brain and eat popcorn i guess.

sonick 06-06-2021 09:15 AM

Wrath of Man - 6.5/10

Lots of plot holes even for me (I'm usually pretty generous with them), but very entertaining action and suspense.
