Ordered a pair of N&F Skinny in Deep Indigo. It'll be first time trying out raw denim.

Where did you order from? How do you go a year without washing a pair of jeans?

I ordered from CosmicBobo.com. I don't plan on going for an entire year without washing lol. Probably going to soak it once in a while and will be airing/freezing to get any smell out.

Energy 08-02-2011 12:02 PM

Cool, snowpant jeans! Haha might have to pick those up for this winter and wear them while snowboarding.

Not washing jeans for long times isnt for everyone.
I haven't washed my 2 yet, and don't plan on doing it either. Ive done about 6 months of wear on both, but dont wear it everyday. I just hang them up outside to let them air out.
I have a pair of levi's 501 that I wear for work (window cleaning), and I wash those, but not that often.

MindBomber 08-02-2011 01:08 PM

The problem with not washing jeans is that the sweat and oils secreted by your body build up in the jeans, which in turn attracts bacteria that will begin feeding on the denim causing it to thin and become more prone to tearing.

I wash my work jeans nightly and they never rip unless they get hooked on a nail, compared to the guys on my crew who never wash their jeans and get giant rips in them randomly.

Indigo Selvedge or Deep Indigo Selvedge

ForbiddenX 08-02-2011 02:03 PM

Indigo is a bit harder to fade from what I've read. Deep Indigo you'll get nicer fades a lot quicker than Indigo.

I just got my pair today and they're waaaay too long. Anyone have any recommended tailors that'll do a good hem? Or is there a special way to hem the jeans?

shawn79 08-02-2011 02:04 PM

all jeans hemming are the same i beleive.

cosmicbobo and holts are both $125 + tax and holts hem them for you for free too

Expresso 08-02-2011 02:57 PM

If you are a super purist and hem them locally you will lose the chain stitching that is done. You also want to make sure your denim is not going to shrink before you hem them. Just stack'em!

shawn79 08-02-2011 03:19 PM

normally before u hem u wash the jeans first

Don't hem! You'll lose the chainstitch and the nice puckered effect it gives the hem... just let them stack. Or if too long then cuff and stack.

ForbiddenX 08-02-2011 03:33 PM

It stacks way too much. There's probably a good 5" that needs the be hemmed off and even then it'll still be stacking! I'm only 5'6 and these jeans are rather long lol. I don't mind losing the chain stiching if there isn't a way to preserve it.

No one has a chain stitch machine in vancouver, you'll have to send it out and I don't think its worth it to do that. Chain stitch kind of makes it special and it'll fade nicer.

I'm the same height as you and have a 35 inch inseam too and I let it stack.. check out the pics a page back. The honeycombs or creases behind your knee will bring up the inseam a bit too. Give it a few days of wear and let the stacks settle before you decide to hem it. Or try stack and cuff? Haha if you really can't stand the look then just hem I guess.

BinsentoW 08-02-2011 03:48 PM

35" inseam isnt that much. Im 5'7 and my sammies are 34" and they stack a bit. I dont like too much stack either.
The first 2 have about 6 months of wear each, but I don't wear them often, prob 1-2 times a week. The other one I wear for work, haven't been washed in about a week.

And somehow I don't think my stacks are going away even if I wash my jeans lol.

Skinny Guys. It's unfortunate that my stacks are all gone.. even some of my combs are in different places. Oh well. Now I know not to machine wash.. -_-

And as for Natural Indigo vs Deep Indigo..
Definitely go for the Deep Indigos. I have the Natural Indigos and they are quite stubborn to fade.

ForbiddenX 08-02-2011 04:12 PM

I'll definitely try and wear them out first. I forgot that the honeycomb will pull it up top n

RevYouUp 08-02-2011 05:59 PM

yea go with the deep indigos...my regular indigos are taking forever to fade..

ForbiddenX 08-02-2011 10:09 PM

I don't think I'll be hemming them anymore. They're actually not that bad with the cuff (need to do a little smaller than that though). Just hoping it'll stretch out a bit faster haha.

Energy 08-03-2011 02:13 PM

How many cuffs is that? Doesn't look like you have much stacking at all.

edit: here's an update on my beater APC NS. Around 8 months total wear with 1 wash at 6 months. Use them for washing my car or other dirty stuff.

shawn79 08-03-2011 02:23 PM

is it a problem that i dont like stacking maybe just a bit?

BinsentoW 08-03-2011 04:02 PM

no problem. Its just personal preference. I like stacks and hate the look of cuffs.

DemonsBlood 08-03-2011 06:14 PM

btw guys, I got a pair of naked and famous 32 skinny guy deep indigo's that are brand new. I bought it off revolve clothing but they are too small. Deep indigos are a great starter pair at an amazing price in my opinion. They costed me 170 total at the door. So i'll have em go for 140 is someone wants them.

shawn79 08-03-2011 06:20 PM

correct me if im wrong but they are going for $125 + tax at holts and cosmicbobo

It's 2 cuffs and yea there isn't that much stacking going on.

Can't wait to get some nice fades like your pair of APCs!
