it also depends. I have a skinny skeletal structure but I work out alot so my muscle:bone ratio is bigger. That's why I end up with a smaller waist than in proportion to my body. It's not always a matter of just being skinny or big, cus different heights, muscles in different areas, etc come into play.

Of course it depends on your personal style. I work out too, but I'm naturally taller with longer limbs. Just saying it might look a bit off if you're jacked out of your mind. Imagine Brock Lesnar in skinny jeans lol.

also +1 for unbrandeds. Although I've never owned a pair before, I've tried a pair on and lemme just say the swag on those are on point. They won't have as big of a selection of fits and styles as its mother line n&f does, but definetly worth a go at.

Yeah I think there's only 3 fits? My only criticism is that it doesn't have that slick shiny feel that other raws have. But hell, for the price, you can't really complain.

all i can say is never buy denim based on the internet.
just cause some samurais or whatever are popular doesnt mean they're good.
go to your local store and try on a bunch of pairs.

FIT >>>> brand/fads/what people on the internet say.

Energy 10-20-2011 12:00 AM

I agree fit over everything. If it genuinely fits perfect then you'll always want to wear the denim and fades and the rest come naturally. If the fit isn't perfect then you'll always be hunting for the next pair. This was my experience going from nudies to apc to my somets now.

Anyone know good heavyweight denim for the winter? I know there's n&f but they most likely won't have my fit in stock.

On the other hand I just learned that dutil carries Tellason denim :fullofwin:

I'd argue 32 oz would still be too thick for the coldest of winters. For the arctic even. That shit stands vertically on its own god dammit. Its like wearing half a suit of armour.... shit lagssss...

MindBomber 10-25-2011 09:39 PM

Plus, they're $500.

That's a huge premium to pay just for obscenely thick denim.

instantneedles 10-26-2011 08:57 PM

guys please check out my thread down below in my signature. Im selling two pairs of nudies with minimal fading, only on the stacks. Im selling each for $90 maybe lower if you guys offer me... These go for $180+ in stores so don't sleep..

MindBomber 10-26-2011 10:03 PM

Nice jeans, decent price.

GLWS man.

unit 10-27-2011 12:09 AM

gotta say after wearing the 21oz iron hearts for about 30-40 wears they are quite comfortable.
they were a bit on the soft side (not starchy) to begin with, and the first signs of wear are surfacing.
i'll wear these all winter so i'll post pics in a few months maybe.

Hey guys, I need some fashion tips:
I'm trying to sell off my current denim(all old, not my style anymore). Once I get some cash back, I'm hoping to buy maybe 2 pairs of raw/dry denim and maybe a new pair of shoes that go well with jeans.

Now, time to help me decide which goes best with which:

N&F jeans:

Nudie Jeans:
Shoes:
Spoiler!

Looking for shoes that are fitting for a gr.11, nothing like boots or anything, though they do look nice, I'm gonna get weird looks.

At the moment, I'm mirin' N&F weirdguy raised selvedge with the white pumas and the nudie slim jim broken twill/ N&F weirdguy frankenstein selvedge with the black pumas.

& a final thought, if I can't find these item(s) instore, would anyone be willing to buy it off the web for me? My mom doesn't really agree with me buying a new wardrobe, even though I'm selling off all my heaty pairs (R&Rs, WRs).

Thanks!

Honestly Vans or Desert Boots look really nice with raw denim. Pumas don't really go well with them but that's just my opinion and my own taste.

I wouldn't say boots aren't fitting for a gr.11. You'll get weirder looks wearing pumas with them than with boots.

For myself, I wouldn't get 2 pairs of raw denim right away as I'd want to work on the fades on 1 than alternating or w.e everyday. Fades will show up faster since you'll be wearing them most of the time.

Grab your self a few shirts or a nice belt instead.

Natural leather belts turn out really great, it's just the beginning that it looks "weird" because it's that pinkish tan color at first.
Tanner Goods(left) and Corter Leather(right, after 1.5 years) make really nice belts

Wear the jeans + belt + shoes and they'll age together nicely, it'll be worth it!

Check out http://blog.abcdenim.com as well it's a really great source for raw denim

I haven't tried out any nudies, so I don't know how they fit. I'm currently a 29 so yours might not fit me.

And if I pair my jeans with a leather belt, would cleaning the belt be necessary?
also, opinions on white belts with jeans?

hongy 10-28-2011 11:52 PM

White belt with raw denim sounds like a good idea but isn't that great in practice.

Has anyone ordered from corter before? it's half the price of the tanner good one but would like to know how much it would be to ship one over.

The_Situation 10-29-2011 01:11 AM

I'd also like to know where I could buy a nice leather belt.

hongy 10-29-2011 02:10 AM

Mr. Lee's General Store & Haberdashery

For tanner goods

areyounoob 10-29-2011 10:46 AM

If you just want a cheap full grain leather belt go to Tandys Leather Factory in Surrey. The entire belt won't cost you more than $20; of course you'll have to buy different parts to the belt and assemble it at home. You could probably just ask the guy if he could assemble it for you and punch holes in them.. he did for me.

Regardless of where you buy your leather belt, just remember to condition the belt with mink oil.

ok so I'm deciding to buy either N&F's weirdguy Indigo, broken twill or left hand twill
Any tips before I buy?
such as sizing up/down

I would get the Left Hand Twill or the Broken Twill.

Definitely size down one or if you can, two. Just don't go true to size with Weird Guys.

supershopper 11-05-2011 12:11 AM

Any reason for picking those? ( I am noob :troll: )
and size down? Some other places have said to size up

areyounoob 11-05-2011 12:25 AM

Hmm well actually that's up to you. The usual reason for many people to buy raw denim is to get sick fadez and the indigos don't do that. I have the same ones in skinny guys and I kind of like how it retains some of it's indigo but to each his own :)

For weird guy sizing, the actual waist size is two sizes higher than the tagged size. So if you buy size 30 waist, you're getting jeans that are 32 in the waist.
