Cafeteria on main. We didn't have resos, so we ended up having to sit at the bar. Surprising on a monday, but means they are doing well which is rad. I liked it anyways because I could see into the kitchen. Service, 9/10 Server was attentive, friendly, and sincere. Nice to have someone who has personality to serve you Food, 9/10 The food wasn't exactly complex, but everything was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and presented nicely. We had the japanese rock shrimp to start@ $11 had a ton of shrimp, more than expected, with a spicy mayo and topped with mizuna and green onions with lemon and olive oil. I had the speck wrapped berkshire pork with mustard sauce. The pork was amazing, but the spatzle it came with....woah. It was absolutely fucking perfect. Seasoned perfectly, and with a nice sear. GF had the steak and prawn with a twice baked potato. Steak was really nice and was seasoned with a hint of cumin which I really liked, and the potato was nice as well. Veggies were a touch under seasoned, but cooked perfectly as well. Atmosphere 10/10 Good music, small restaurant, nice people. We had a miserable old couple decline the seats beside us and make a stink, however you can hardly fault the restaurant. We joked with the server about it afterwards as well. Price 9/10 My beer was cheap, food was cheap, wine was a tad much. For dinner, 2 drinks and an appy it came to 80 dollars. For the quality I was happy to pay it. I'll be going back for sure. |

TBH, if you haven't tried L.A. Chicken you should because it's pretty much up there with Churches. If you got dried/shitty piece give the place another try as they probably just fucked up...or you're just fucked up if it happens to you two times in a row. Just run out of the restaurant and on to No.5 and hope you get hit by an X5 that will kill you rather than some civic which will probably just make you a quadriplegic (although that's probably what is more deserving since you seem to lack in both luck and taste buds). |
Surprised you didn't try beechers http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...17474090_n.jpg http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...56713640_n.jpg |
Pearl on Victoria 8/10 Definitely one of the better cafe's for breakfast. Quality, quantity, and price is definitely on par with BT Cafe. All combos are $5.95 with a hot drink, or $4.50 with no combo. |
koi near fraser and kingsway. Great japanese restaurant to watch games and drink! |
Cattle Cafe 3510 Kingsway, Killarney area. 8/10. Decent food here. Good dumplings and noodles in soup. Some combos and mini meal sets come with a hot drink. |

went to try Shimi-Ya on Victoria and 41st today (next to London Drugs) based on reviews from the sushi thread and wasn't disappointed. the old japanese couple that owns the place are among the nicest people and the food is very fresh. dragon roll: (unagi with avocado on top) http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7920/imagekzks.jpg chopped scallop roll + california roll: http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/1705/imagedfv.jpg assorted nigiri: http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/4341/imagewwu.jpg salmon and avocado roll: http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/1461/imagefqn.jpg i'd give it a 10/10. reasonably priced (around $40 including tip for me and gf, and i was really hungry), great service, and fresh food. only thing is they are not open sundays and mondays. |

Dragon ball bubble tea house longan bubble tea, fresh and delicious! 9/10 |
Uncle Mings Spicy Green Beans and Chicken over rice 9/10 |
Romer's Burger Bar 7/10 had the garlic fries, magic mushroom burger, and the wild salmon burger. I loved the bun they use, but the patty on the mushroom burger was bland, overcooked and underseasoned. Salmon burger was refreshing and delicious. The fries were good but couldn't taste the garlic except for at the bottom of the basket where there were disgusting raw garlic bits stuck onto the fries. Genuine disappointment as the server recommended them over the regular fires. Preston's 8/10 - Lobster bisque was watery and a let down - Pulled pork sliders (canuck's game special $2 each) are run of the mill. - Crab cake (vaneats) wasn't bad - Poutine sampler (vaneats) didn't know this could be considered a poutine, some gravy and cheese at the bottom, fries placed on top... A dipping sauce at best - Mushroom ravioli, simply mouthwatering - Halibut wrapped in bacon (vaneats) Perfectly executed, but the sides are meh - Maple Bacon creme brulee (vaneats) unique, worth trying but I wasn't a fan. |
didnt want to make a new thread, so here we go. anyone buy this deal? Half Off All You Can Eat Hotpot Dinner for 2 | The Red Pocket – Vancouver Daily Deals forgot to buy it and im willing to take it off someone hands. PM please |
medina 8/10 it was good but nothing really that special. a little more expensive than your average brunch spot, but the coffee was really nice. |
