Recommendations?

Edit... NM... already answered

To contribute something, I believe the only thing that keeps Moxie's in business is that they are typically attached to a Sandman Hotel (both are owned by Gaglardi), so they act as the hotels restaurant.

I'd put Pourhouse and Splitz over Au Comptoir imo.

Definitely need to try Hawksworth and Alibi Room next.

I've tried Alibi Room's and thought it was OK. I was really drunk though. Maybe I should order it before drinking.

didn't really like the burger at pourhouse. it didn't really have that beef taste. if you've been to dim sum and tried the meat balls it tasted just like that

It's the fucking best place in the world. Why else would it be called Burger Heaven?

Took the plunge and decided last minute on Kissa Tanto after shopping at Legacy. It was snowing/slushing pretty hard so we didn't have to wait for a table.

Got all the dishes the server recommended:
Octopus Salad - the octopus were soft and moist but the greens were really bitter for some reason, not a fan.
Carne Cruda - Their version of beef tartar, this was my favourite dish of the night. The crispy skins used to scoop the beef provided a good crunch to contrast the tender meat.
Tajarin - Pasta was also good and full of cheesy flavour however it's quite expensive for what you get, $25 for a fistful of noodles and what looks like an assortment of mushrooms (shiitake, shimeji and possibly a diced king mushroom)
Lifter Steak - By far the worst dish, $33 for about 8 slices of thinly cut steak and a side of fermented cabbage. Now I wouldn't mind the portion so much if they were tender juicy morsels of marbled meat but these were dry, tough, grainy and chewy slices of beef. I had to sandwich the beef together with the kimchi to get any type of moisture in my mouth. Bleh. Disappointed.

Server was friendly and prompt. Ambiance is just so so, feels cramped and there's a weird smell.

Score: 5/10
Verdict: I would come back for a drink and snack on the beef tartar but for a meal it's way overpriced. Definitely would not wait in line though.
My bill was roughly $150 with 2 drinks, and I wanted to grab a burger after lol.

Everyone who I have talked to who has gone to Kissa Tanto has not been overly impressed. Yet the reviews online all rave about it. Is it just all hype?

Mak N Ming 5/10.

Paid around $250 without drink for dinner for two. Service was below average, no real complaints for the food but I can't find anything nice to say about it either. Maybe I'd rate it higher if it was half the price

East is East. Had the Chia Feast tasting menu. For $29/person includes rice salad, soup and boulani with 2 individual portion entrees. After that one can order as many entrees as wanted. No sharing or take aways. GF and I were stuffed as we barely finished our third round. Good food service and atmosphere. Didn't order any drinks. 7/10 cause there was a $3 tip per person to have live music. Well maybe that charge isn't that bad but be nice if there was a disclaimer.

Mott 32: Literally tried their entire dessert menu except their "mango soup" which is pretty much just Mango pomelo sago; 楊枝甘露. Very well done. Their de-constructed macha cheese cake was probably the worse (least liked). Quite surprised, it was jam packed last night.

Drinks wise, our entire table tried their signature drink, it's really really lovely. The chicks dig it. Hanami is what it is called. The use yuzu which is like a hybrid of a grapefruit, mandarin, lemon and orange. Very nice and served in huge wine glass (685ml size) and each of the glasses were $80+ each or whatever they say.

Their Old Harbour drink (aka Old fashion) the ice block / cube inside actually has syrup inside so as you drink and melts, it gets much sweeter, which is quite cool. These things are great when they do have a chance to educate you when you order. Great touch.

Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster:
They had a fish, fillet and then repurposed back onto the fish; serves 2, for $70.
The linguine alle vongole was a joke. Wasn't good at all. Clams were SUPER tiny and only 2 shrimps. Did not enjoy
The kicker was this; still water, was $4 per person. It was served from their pitcher, that we were not impressed or expected.

Bahn Mi Tres Bon 8.5/10

New modern Vietnamese place at the new Garden City mall in Richmond.

Beef Pho was fantastic, amazing broth and high quality ingredients. A nice chunk of bone filled with delicious marrow per bowl is a nice and unique touch. One of the best I've had.

Bahn Mi trio sampler was neat, although the filling to bread ratio was off due to the size of each sandwich, pretty much you taste all bread and barely any filling.

The proportions were much better for the full size grilled pork, however unlike the Pho, it wasn't as impressive. There was clearly some effort and thought in sourcing the baguette, as it is a step above the standard; good balance of a crisp crust and soft inner. However, their bread lacked that real chewiness from gluten that a great baguette has.

That said, the prices are definitely above your standard pho joint. Made even more obvious with Thai Son just across the street. A relatively small bowl of pho, albeit fantastic, was $11. Bahn Mi Trio sampler $10, grilled pork bahn mi $8.
