you can't register any cars that are LHD or fail euro 5 emission test (ie 01+ NSX, Supra, R34 GTR etc)

but you can use the loophole by using the test/temp/transport plate to drive them around, not only you can drive any cars on the street with it (including race cars i think) and you do not have to pay the pricey first registration tax.

using those plates have its limitation, first you only have 3rd party insurance, secondly the government are cracking down on improper (tax evasion, recreation use rather then test drive purpose) use of the t-plates, and third, since the car is not registered, you are not allow to park on the streets.
