basic setup. 580 through an umbrella camera left at 4:1 ratio fired with st-e2 on ettl.

Really cute expressions :)

May I suggest using AI Servo to catch the baby's eyes as the focus point instead of something static like the baby chair? Reason being that she is moving around fast, so I was thinking it would be like a sports photography kinda session.

g/rex 06-19-2008 11:34 PM

same pics. just cropped ...

classroom shoot for a cd cover.

Levitron 06-21-2008 12:48 AM

SO THAT WAS YOU ON THE STROBIST GROUP!

The second shot seems to be a bit overexposed on the right.

on 06-21-2008 01:37 AM

the girls hot
i dont think under/over exposure means anything really as long as u got what u set out for

cheers on the great shots.

Thanks for the # g/rex. I was able to book a photo shoot with her. That's a pretty cool phone number I must say.

yea, i salvaged that picture. it was my first location shoot and i was all sweating it.... it was hot in that classroom for some reason and well, i got a bit nervous that the pics weren't turning out... not really too sure on how to work my 580s too well yet, and damn st-e2, not too sure how to work that either. should've used my pw's... not too bad for 4 months of shooting... and i didn't really know how to use strobes till about a month and a half ago...

g/rex 06-21-2008 08:42 AM

levitron, did you add me as a friend on FLICKR?

[HuCk DuCk] 06-21-2008 09:10 AM

that first picture denny is buggin me..... i want to say it out of focus but i don't think that's it..... it just seems the focal point is her shoulder

No they're different. I did a lot in Photoshop... background, enlarging pupils, skin texture, hair light, skin surgery, etc.. Is the retouching too much? I used to not go this far with retouching but I think the models on Model Mayhem like it retouched.

I'm not sure... It's sharp on her face... soft on her stomach and blurry on the pants. Maybe it's too much processing or looks too much like that dreamy photo effect?

Soooooo where the heck have you guys been hiding? This thread is full of win!!! I love seeing these kinda shots here, didn't know we had many portrait shooters around. Guess I better hurry up and practice, my shots aren't up to par anymore.

mc25 06-21-2008 08:41 PM

Im confused.... why did g/rex and denny shoot the same girl?
BTW, i like the retouched one better Denny, thats a great shot. I have no clue how you were able to retouch it so well, the hair has more shine, and the skin seems nicer as well.
G/REX i like the right photo of the school room shot best, very neat photo
