I just can't figure out why they're playing they way they are right now. For reasons unknown, the dynamics of the team has changed so drastically that one can hardly to recognize them anymore.

Right now I'm thinking it might be the coach. AV is good at getting teams with limited talent to play beyond expectations. But now that he has more talented players his style of coaching is not working. Look at Washington before with Glen Hanlon as coach. Right after he's fired, they go on quite a run. They made the playoffs last year and they are playing suberb this year.

And here I was laughing at the Flames at the beginning of the season because I thought Keenan would fuck them up nicely.......

AzNightmare 01-15-2009 08:30 PM

Quinn's hardcore. Let's make another '94 run!!

But all serious, I don't know if it's AV's fault. Or when or how did he suddenly just lose the team if that's the case.
But whatever happens, if the Canucks as a whole team are playing bad, only the coach eventually gets singled out and removed.
And I wouldn't miss that, I don't see how can it get any worse.

Harvey Specter 01-15-2009 08:31 PM

What about giving Mark Crawford another chance? lol.

It's like if something doesnt work for a couple of games he's gotta change it up. He's looking for chemistry, but too stupid to realize that it takes more than a couple of games to build chemistry. I have given AV enough chances. I have stuck through it up until now. But now I am just sick of it. To top it all off, the stuff that he pulled on Linden last year was flat out disrespectful, just to fulfill his own ego. He is horrible. Fire him now while Pat Quinn is still available!

I don't know if Quinn would be the answer either.

I agree Wellwood always seems to be in AVs doghouse, even when he's scoring goals. The line juggling drives me crazy too! The players probably feel the same way.

alex.w *// 01-15-2009 08:33 PM

we shouldn't play at home anymore

BlackV62K2 01-15-2009 08:42 PM

Wow, the Flames and Sharks game that's on right now is more exciting than the last 5 Canucks games combined.

Xnova 01-15-2009 08:50 PM

AV is fucking the team up

Harvey Specter 01-15-2009 08:53 PM

Flames always play good vs the Sharks but that been said the Flames are red hot of late.

Edit: Looks like the Flames will give the Sharks there first lost of the season on home ice.

Armind 01-15-2009 09:05 PM

That was a depressing game to watch, good to see Luongo get his touch back late in the game. Thank god Kitchen Nightmare's is on to save my night.

BlackV62K2 01-15-2009 09:06 PM

Yup, Flames gave Sharks their first home lost this season and pull further away in the NW division.

Why would you say that? It's easy to just point the finger at the coach when things go bad.

xyz123 01-15-2009 09:27 PM

-Sigh- still waiting tilll the Canucks win so i can post "YEAHHHHHHH THEY WON!"
By the way does anyone know when Luongo goes into free agency? Is it next season or next next season?

Eff-1 01-15-2009 09:34 PM

not only did we lose badly but even the game presentation was boring tonight. no special promos, no nothing. they didn't even do the dentyne kiss cam.

I agree, they've shown that they can compete with the best, that they at least have the ability when they play as a team, and play the system. Who wasn't happy with how they were playing before Luongo went down?

Its like now that they have Luongo/Sundin they think the wins will come easy....

rsx 01-15-2009 09:43 PM

AV out the door soon?

hate to say it but the players dont like AV's system

the constant line juggling

AND its funny you say its easy to just point fingers when things go bad..cuz thats EXACTLY what AV is doing right now

pointing fingers at his top players...

Harvey Specter 01-15-2009 10:01 PM

Tough to say what the issues might be with the Canucks, all we can do is guess. On paper the Canucks are a very good team but on the ice it's a whole different story. It’s becoming pretty obvious that Gillis will make more moves during the off season which might include finding a new coach but I don't think Gillis will replace AV during the season.

ADVMOTORS 01-15-2009 10:19 PM

All I gotta say is Pyatt is the shit!

And yet he keeps Wellwood as his whipping boy.

+1 he was so slow tonight. Oh wait! He's like that everynight. :p

noots 01-15-2009 10:50 PM

Even with Luongo back you would think that the team would play with a bit more confidence.

Then again to think Luongo in his first game back in 2 months to completely shut the door is ridiculous, but not like the team in front gave him any help.

invader 01-15-2009 10:55 PM

soo....

Who has Canuck players in their pool...

Tim Budong 01-15-2009 11:09 PM

sigh..
at the game..2nite...like on tuesday..worst than tuesday damn man...
to kick things off..yea..fans booing the team off the ice for hte final two minutes would be clearly...IMPOSSIBLE when ppl started leaving 10min b4 the game ended...anyways..what i noticed in person sitting behind the nucks bench and getting the reaction...since most already know how the game went ON the ice..this is OFF the ice

1. AV..kept his cool..didnt flip out..or do much
2. with the exception of maybe Willie Mitchell...and the twins...no one really seemed to care how the play is...
3. You can see the reaction when someone like Hansen has to suddenly go out there to play with Johnson + raymond...sorta like.ughh..here we go again sorta thing...u kno, losing their "focus" on "positioning" and building chemistry during practice..
4. didnt seem to notice any communication after a shift to improve for the next(prob cuz they could be out there with someone else)
5. Luongo looked pissed off at Edler and Davidson everytime during commerical

anyways...AV is at some fault, but so are the players as they are the ones that give pucks away, and choose not to forecheck...

Wellwood probably woulda been killed tonight if he lined up with the sedins as they struggled for the first 40min of the game with Jovo and Morris hounding them in the corners ALL NIGHT. Taylor Pyatt at least is a bigger body that takes a lil more effort to push off.

Demitra shoulda SHOT the FUCKING PUCK when clearly the PHX dman is SLIDING IN FRONT OF HIM ON THE ICE. stupid for him for trying to flip it to Sundin. Tho Demitra had some legs tonight on his forecheck attempt

Edler needs to learn how to skate again...his falling could match those timbits during the first intermission.

Beiksa needs to learn how to hit the net again..not shoot it at ppl...

Raymond needs to learn how to...STOP BEHIND THE FUCKING NET and try to make a play with the TEAM....

dissapointing..again...the kes/bur/bernier line was the only line that did some decent work during the first 40min....

damnit..it now feels like im paying money to watch 20min of hockey..compared to last season..i at least got 30min of hockey...

Theres clearly some confidence/chemistry issues with the players this year..the line juggling is getting scary...

noots 01-15-2009 11:18 PM

does anyone here think that the constant line juggling is one of the reasons for the lack of chemistry?

too bad raymond isn't eligible for waivers anymore, he should be sent down for a wake up call, if just to find his game (besides skating around in circles then giving the puck away)
