Fuck this thread. It reminded me I have to start saving up $$$ for tattoos. I've been thinking of a few ideas do a long time. Nothing concrete yet.

I bet something like an mc Escher could be pretty cool if done right

Just saw this

Tattoodo | Custom Tattoo Designs

Thought it was a pretty cool concept, was just wondering from you guys, did someone design your tattoos for you or did you design them on your own? I've been thinking about getting work on my shoulder/upper arm for a couple years

Adorkami 11-14-2013 08:16 PM

For my tattoos I went into the shop with a concept of what i wanted and the artist added their touch to make it their own. Keep in mind some artists don't like drawing other people's images.

Hondaracer 11-14-2013 08:52 PM

yea, i'm no expert but a website like that seemingly defeats the whole purpose of a tattoo kinda? i dunno

SkinnyPupp 11-14-2013 09:06 PM

Websites like that are for people who do nothing other than fantasize about getting tattoos

threezero 11-14-2013 10:33 PM

that looks like a cool site if you want to buy flash to hang on your wall (that's what they are selling right?)

otherwise just go to your favorite artist, hell even go to one of the artist feature on the site .

kind of a wayyy down the road question lol but in terms of Japanese style, are there pretty much set images that go along with it? like you've got your Koi, dragons, snakes, tigers, etc?

would a bear or somthing like that not be considered that style or done by a "traditional" japanese artist?

That's what makes it non traditional, but it can be done in the traditional style. I have a raccoon in a japanese style, but it's more like a Hokusai sketch than a traditional 'irezumi' tattoo

In fact all my tattoos are various japanese (aforementioned, along with waterbrush style and even a manga style), but not a single one is traditional japanese tattooing.

Find a versatile artist who can do the style you want and can draw you up a cool looking bear

still gotta get my first one but i've got big ideas! lol it kind of worked out well that Cohen had such a waiting list, A) for the money saving and B) id like to lose 20lb's before going in

Adorkami 11-19-2013 09:46 PM

I found being pudgy made the tattoos not hurt as much, dropped 30 lbs and my ribs hurt more than the last time. I could just be more of a pussy now that im older though.

white rocket 11-20-2013 10:43 AM

^^^funny you should say that as I felt that my excess fat made the skin stretch more painful. I'm waiting/trying to drop 20lbs to finish mine off.

It's better to get the work done on an area where you know that you can maintain the weight at. If you lose weight have it done and then put the weight back on it wont look as good since it will stretch out. Just man up and deal with the pain!!

westopher 11-20-2013 08:07 PM

You have no idea how much weight you'd need to gain or lose to fuck up your tattoos.

white rocket 11-21-2013 08:19 AM

I'm not talking a huge variance. Just packed on a bit of a spare tire from beer drinking lately. I'd rather lose that extra pudge than deal with the skin stretch during needle time. No biggie. I noticed that muscley areas didn't sting as much as a fatty area. I guess that is what I was getting at.
