Tattoos fully healed and I've already had some thoughts on my next 2. I'm 100% about the 1 but I'm trying to figure out something that would go good with my Hannya for a half sleeve or maybe my arm to my chest. Was thinking about a koi but I feel like I'd be copying another guys idea even though his koi/Hannya are on different arms but still......probably going to do some shopping around until I really know what I want then find the artist.

why not some samurai's ?.. or japanese turtles?

RayBot 04-08-2012 08:38 PM

I went over to Hawaii and was influenced to get a Polynesian piece on my leg. I really adore the Polynesian styles...Hawaiian more specifically. Not really interested in getting a tribal Samoan tattoo on my face.

SkinnyPupp 04-08-2012 08:44 PM

Most authentic tribal tattooers won't do that anyway unless you're actually tribal ;)

^^ Did not know that! Learn something new everyday...

SkinnyPupp 04-09-2012 10:17 PM

Definitely not a fox!

Came so close to getting a fox though. But I preferred the wolf.

It's a female btw

RayBot 04-09-2012 10:41 PM

Moro?

SkinnyPupp 04-09-2012 11:29 PM

And the Internets go to you sir! I love the tattoo but it will kill me until I add the background. Hopefully that can happen sooner than later

Does anyone know any reputable tattoo artists in Hong Kong? Or where I can find some? I'm heading there on April 29th, and was thinking about getting my piece done there.

I'm getting something similar to this. TIA

No great portait artists that I am aware of in HK

Besides, Vancouver already has a great portrait/realistic artist

not necessarily...its your interpretation of the meaning/symoblism...my sleeve has all bunch of different things and each symbolize different things in my life...my 2 cents

Thanks, do you have any other suggestions for portrait type artists? I was unsure at first of what kind of artists can do that particular piece since it does involve a lot of detail..

If anyone knows other artists that can do that kind of work, please let me know!

filth 04-10-2012 02:09 PM

James Acrow's work looks amazing. I think I might have to contact him soon, but i'm still open for suggestions.

You've mentioned that you spent a bit of time in jail before, I know from your posts in the workout thread that you have tattoos, but you never struck me as the stereotype everyone associates with tattoos. Solid grammar and spelling, intelligent, helpful, on that basis alone, not only do you come across as the opposite of the degenerate stereotype, but you're ahead of 98% the people on RS. Goes to show how much stereotypes are worth.

I'm torn between two tattoos at the moment, I'm going to get one or the other. The one I'm leaning towards is perfectly circular with straight lines running through it, I'm hesitant, because it needs to be an absolutely perfect thick circle. If it's not perfect or very near to it, it'll drive me insane, I'm a little obsessive over details....

Anyway, questions for the more experienced tattoo people:
- purely from the perspective of execution, would I be better off going with the design that isn't straight lines and circles?
- how close to perfect can I reasonably expect for something like I've described?

I'll post the specific image if need be.

Some of the best work I've seen with straight lines.
